00:00Yeah, my life is like a tearful Wendy Williams calls her
00:08guardianship a prison in a rare interview. The former talk show
00:12host calls into the Breakfast Club on January 16th, breaking
00:17her silence about her court appointed guardianship, which a
00:20New York judge placed her under in 2022. In the emotional
00:25interview, which Wendy gives alongside her niece, Alex, the
00:28media personality denies guardian Sabrina Morrissey's
00:33previous claims made in a November 2024 court filing that
00:38Wendy quote has become cognitively impaired and
00:41permanently incapacitated.
00:44Wendy, tell us what's going on.
00:46Well, first of all, to start with, my niece, Alex knows a lot
00:51as well, you know, but I am not cognitively impaired. You know
00:55what I'm saying? No, but I feel like I am in prison. You
00:58understand what I'm saying? You know that this system that I'm
01:01in, you know, this system has falsified a lot. You know what
01:07I'm saying? You know what I said, you're cognitively
01:10impaired and you're incapacitated. Do I seem that
01:14way? You've been calling me five times a day for the last two
01:19weeks. No, you don't seem that way. Excuse me, who I naturally
01:26am is who I naturally am. You know what I'm saying? And my
01:29niece knows all about that crap.
01:31Wendy and her niece also make allegations regarding her day to
01:34day life in the New York wellness facility that she lives
01:38in.
01:38But I keep the door closed. I watch TV. You know what I'm
01:42saying? I listen to radio, you know, and I watch the window,
01:45you know, and I sit here like my as my life goes by. You
01:48understand what I'm saying? I can call you, but you can't call
01:52me. You understand what I'm saying? I don't even know what
01:54what kind of phone this is that I have. All I'm saying is that
01:57when I call you, you listen, if you don't call me back, you
02:01can't call me back. You understand what I'm saying? I
02:03can't I can't sit on the phone, you know, and look at things,
02:07you know what I'm saying? And scroll through things. I can't
02:09do that. I do not have a laptop. You understand? I don't have an
02:13iPad.
02:14You know, what she's saying is exactly what's happened. She's
02:19there in New York, in this place, essentially like what
02:24some people call a luxury prison, right? This is her room
02:29that's literally her apartment. But the thing about this
02:32apartment, and you know this, Wendy, because you're there,
02:35it's small. She has a bed, a chair, a TV, a bathroom, and
02:40she's looking out one window. Yeah, I mean, you know, I mean,
02:42imagine you're sitting in a space every single day, you're
02:46not getting sunlight, you're you're you're not able to leave
02:49to leave your place. You can't see people you can't you can't
02:52just have free conversation. You know, you do this day in and
02:56day out for months or years at a time. Emotionally and mentally,
03:00that breaks you down in ways that I can't even imagine. I
03:03mean, we know that.
03:04The 60 year old also becomes emotional at one point
03:07explaining that she fears retaliation for speaking out.
03:12Might not be. Yeah. My life is like, up. Yeah.
03:21Alex, Alex, do you think you think that there'll be some
03:25time? There'll be some type of retaliation from the Guardian
03:28because of this, you know, maybe this phone call or because
03:31Yeah. Wow. We've talked about that. You know, my aunt, even
03:36with her wanting to come on, we talked about all scenarios. I
03:39said, you know, do this. You're ready for what's on the other
03:41side. And as she said, I have to do this. There's nothing else
03:46I could do at this point. She's prepared for the fact that her
03:48phone might be taken away.
03:49What if they take my phone? I won't be able to talk to
03:52anybody. Yeah.
03:54The former shock jock also claims that the wellness
03:57facility that she lives in is trying to force medication on
04:01her.
04:01Everybody is like, nursemaids, so to speak, you know what I'm
04:05saying? They come in, and they give your pills, you know what
04:10I'm saying? And then they leave and I told you not to take I
04:13told you don't take the pills.
04:15Excuse me. I've had two pills all of my life. Alex, you know
04:20what I'm talking about? Yeah, you know, exactly what you're
04:23talking about. Excuse me, there are seven pills. I have no idea
04:29what is this pill doing? What is it going to listen? I haven't
04:32been to a pill person in a matter of long time, you know
04:39to the point where, excuse me, doctor, can you tell me what
04:42this pill is for?
04:43Her niece is also urging fans to speak out on social media to
04:47bring awareness to Wendy's alleged situation.
04:50There's the hashtag free Wendy. There's also a change.org
04:54petition as well. And also just just making as much noise as
04:59possible. You know, potentially, you know, GoFundMe, whatever we
05:04have to do to make sure that my aunt is in a place where she is
05:09living her life in dignity. For the woman that she is now,
05:13that's what we're gonna do.
05:14And while Wendy mostly opens up about her own life in the
05:17interview, the New Jersey native, a longtime outspoken
05:21critic of Sean Diddy Combs also weighs in on the rapper's legal
05:25troubles.
05:26He's currently in jail awaiting trial and has pleaded not guilty
05:29to charges of racketeering, sex trafficking by force and
05:33transportation to engage in prostitution.
05:37All these years later to see where Diddy currently is, what
05:39do you feel about that situation?
05:41Hey, when I when I watch TMZ, and I see the stuff that goes
05:44on, I'm like, oh my gosh. And then all of a sudden I see me
05:47on TMZ. And as far as Diddy, Diddy will go to prison for life
05:51people. You don't know things that I do about Diddy back in
05:54the day. And you want to know what? It's about time people. It
05:58is about time. Diddy done.
06:00E! News has reached out to reps for Wendy's guardian Sabrina
06:03Morrissey in response to Wendy and Alex's claims made in the
06:07interview but has not yet heard back. Morrissey is currently in
06:11a legal battle with TV networks A&E and Lifetime Entertainment
06:15over the release of the 2024 docuseries Where is Wendy
06:19Williams, which explored Wendy's life under the guardianship.
06:25Are we ready? Yeah. All right. And away we go.
06:30Love you, Wendy.
06:31All I know is how to be famous. I really want to be back on
06:35television.
06:35You're gonna be back on TV. That's easy.
06:38My mom has done a great job making it seem like everything
06:41is okay. Always.
06:42Wendy, make sure you look here. One, two, three.
06:45But in reality, there's something wrong going on.
06:48Did you see a neurologist? To find out if I'm crazy?
06:53Oh my god. No, I can't do this. I can't do this. I have to sit
06:57down again.
06:58She was put in front of a judge and given a guardian. That was
07:01when they took her away from us.
07:02I have no money. I'm gonna tell you something. If it happens to
07:06me, it could happen to you.
07:09As her family, we were all sitting on the sidelines
07:11watching. And she was crying out for help.
07:14Did you drink this whole thing today?
07:16Keep it there. Okay. Keep it there.
07:19My mom, she always talks about how she wants to work. I feel as
07:23though she's worked enough.
07:24In 2024, Wendy's team had gone public with news of a diagnosis
07:28of aphasia and frontotemporal dementia. At the time, Wendy
07:33told E! News in a statement, I have immense gratitude for the
07:36love and kind words I have received after sharing my
07:39diagnosis of aphasia and frontotemporal dementia. Let me
07:43say, wow, your response has been overwhelming. Please just know
07:47that your positivity and encouragement are deeply
07:50appreciated.
07:55Mhm.
07:59Mhm.
08:01Mhm.
