00:00If you're a regular traveller through Newcastle Airport, you'll know that many long-haul destinations
00:06require you to get a connecting flight from say London or Amsterdam, which if you're a
00:10fan of the destination and not the journey, that can be annoying.
00:16The furthest you can travel directly from Newcastle Airport is Cancun in Mexico. You
00:20can also travel to Dubai, Orlando, Florida, New York, Bali, Bangkok and Cape Town.
00:27However, if you're really not a fan of long-haul flights or looking for a quick trip somewhere,
00:31the shortest abroad flights from Newcastle are Brussels, Dusseldorf, Amsterdam, Berlin,
00:36Copenhagen and Paris that all take two hours or less on a plane.
00:42These locations all have similar temperatures to the UK so if you're looking for somewhere
00:45particularly hot to travel to, the summer months would be better for those destinations
00:50but on the colder summer days you can still be looking at lower temperatures of the mid-teens.
00:55If you plan to only pack bikinis or swimming shorts, the Canary or Balearic Islands include
01:00lovely warm holiday destinations such as Gran Canaria which has temperatures above 20 degrees
01:05all year round, Tenerife with its warm winds from North Africa, Lanzarote which is your
01:11warmest overall of the Canary Islands and they all typically take between four and five
01:15hours directly from Newcastle Airport.
01:20There's also Ibiza, Mallorca, Menorca which are all great weather-wise during the summer
01:25months and you're looking at less than three hours on a flight.
01:29The Greek islands such as Santorini, Crete, Rhodes and Kos are all great sun holidays
01:34that take around four hours on a flight.
01:37It's important to note that Teesside International Airport offers flights to some of these locations
01:41too, so it's worth checking out if that's the closest airport to you to save some money
01:46on airport transfer costs.
01:49But where do some of you plan to travel in 2025?
01:54Ooh, it's a good question.
01:56My friends really want to go camping somewhere and yeah, my friend Noah, he's obsessed with
02:01camping.
02:02Noah, if you see this, I don't know if you will.
02:04Maybe, maybe get somewhere, maybe go to Turkey, maybe Spain, somewhere cheap, somewhere nice.
02:09Anywhere for you?
02:11Not a chance.
02:12Not in this economy.
02:14Oh wow, okay.
02:16Fares, fares.
02:17I probably will never go away again because I'm always skint.
02:21I'm not, because of my health, travel's not probably a good idea.
02:24My favourite place used to be the Greek islands.
02:27Absolutely love Greece.
02:28Absolutely love it.
02:29Where in the Pacific anyway?
02:30Well, Santorini obviously is just incredible, but I've been to most of them, I went to Paros,
02:37Crikey Rhodes, Crete, obviously all the popular ones.
02:40I'm trying to think where else I've been.
02:43Aegina.
02:44Yeah, I went about 12 years in a row.
02:48Not this year.
02:50If I could go anywhere right now, I'd love to go to France on a skiing holiday.
02:53Oh God, I've never done that before.
02:55It's great.
02:56But yeah, I'm hoping to do that next year instead.
