00:00In January, more than a hundred houses were set on fire in Metro Manila, according to the Bureau of Fire Protection.
00:06Like in Barangay 48, Barrio Menú, Tondo, Manila, where the celebration of the fiesta was postponed because of the fire, two are on the way.
00:14Let's hear from Bea Pinla.
00:18On the same day of the fiesta of Santo Niño de Tondo, a thick smoke covered and a fire was raging in this house in Barangay 48, Barrio Menú, Tondo, Manila.
00:30Residents poured their own water to help put out the fire.
00:36People of the barangay also joined the fight to save the man trapped in the third floor of the burning house.
00:44He was the only family affected by the fire that lasted more than half an hour before it was completely put out at 5 p.m. according to the authorities.
00:53A senior citizen was injured.
00:55We thought it was okay because the senior citizen that we took out had a back injury.
01:02We took him to the ambulance.
01:06The 58-year-old man and his 43-year-old niece were also killed.
01:12My father went up again because my cousin was still there.
01:15They didn't go down. I love my father very much. I will not let my mother and my brother down.
01:22It hurts a lot. I didn't expect that to happen.
01:27It hurts a lot. I don't want to go back. I don't want to go back. I'm sorry. I don't know if I can go back.
01:40The fire was raging from the second floor of the house.
01:45The authorities and their neighbors also helped the injured.
01:50We were able to take care of the nine families.
01:54We are thankful that our neighbors were able to sleep for the time being.
02:02Bea Pinlac reporting for GMA Integrated News.
02:07Meanwhile, a cold storage facility in Quezon City is still on fire.
02:12Let's update on this with Mackie Pulido.
02:21You know, Connie, it's been eight hours since the fire was put out here in a cold storage facility
02:27along FPJ Avenue here in Quezon City.
02:31If you can see behind me, Connie, they used a crane
02:35so that the water can flow straight into the cold storage.
02:40And because there are a lot of fire trucks here in FPJ Avenue,
02:46this part is really closed because the road is blocked by fire trucks.
02:52So as of 8.21 a.m., the fire is already on the third alarm.
02:57And so far, from what we've been asking, no one has been injured.
03:03The guard said, when we asked the next-door business establishment,
03:07they said it was past 2 a.m. when they noticed that there was a thick smoke
03:12coming from inside the cold storage.
03:15Then they immediately called the Bureau of Fire Protection.
03:19It was past 3 a.m. when they saw fire coming from inside the cold storage.
03:26The next-door business establishments immediately closed.
03:29And of course, they were also nervous because when they saw the fire getting bigger,
03:34because the gas station is right next to the cold storage,
03:38there's only one wall in between.
03:40But there are also fire trucks waiting at the gas station.
03:44From there, water is poured to extinguish the fire,
03:47just like the crane we saw earlier.
03:50It's parked at the gas station.
03:52No statement has been given yet from the head of the cold storage.
03:56And we are still waiting for the statement of the Bureau of Fire Protection
04:00on what the status of the fire is.
04:02The head of the BFP is still busy inside, Connie.
04:07Thank you very much, Maki Polido.
04:14To our fellow motorists, the budget is now ready.
04:17There will be a big-time oil price hike for tomorrow's oil products.
04:20Based on the announcement of several oil companies,
04:23the price of 2 pesos and 70 centavos per liter of diesel is high.
04:271 peso and 65 centavos are added to the price of gasoline.
04:31While for kerosene, the price is 2 pesos and 50 centavos higher.
04:36This is the first highest price for oil products this year.
04:44Now that there is a new increase in the price of oil products,
04:48several transport groups are planning to increase the price of jeepneys.
04:53Their goal in the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board in 2023
04:59is a minimum fare of 15 pesos from the previous 12 pesos.
05:03But they were only given a high fare of 1 peso,
05:07so the minimum fare for jeepneys is now 13 pesos.
05:10Jimmy Integrated News is also trying to get a new statement from the LTFRB.
05:16They said before that they are giving a fuel subsidy
05:19to the oil price hike-affected lobbies.
05:28The temperature in some parts of the country is still low this Monday.
05:32According to the forecast, the minimum temperature is 12.9 degrees Celsius in La Trinidad, Benguet,
05:3715 degrees Celsius in Baguio City, while 24.7 degrees Celsius in Quezon City.
05:43It is possible that the country will experience a cooler temperature this time of the month.
05:48For now, Central and Northern Luzon are affected by this month
05:52based on the rainfall forecast of Metro Weather.
05:55It is also expected that it will rain for the next few hours.
05:58Light to moderate rains will be experienced,
06:01possibly heavy to intense rains in some areas.
06:07Let's keep an eye on the volcano.
06:09The Canlaon Volcano erupted three times yesterday.
06:13Those eruptions lasted for 23 minutes.
06:17Aside from that, there were also 13 volcanic earthquakes,
06:21including two volcanic tremors.
06:24The volcano is still erupting,
06:27remaining in alert level 3 or magmatic unrest.
06:30It means that there is still a possibility of sudden and strong eruptions.
