00:00for the past sort of maybe 20 years the sort of competition format in BMX has always been the same
00:07and it feels like no one's ever questioned why we do it like we do it and when you actually sit
00:12back and think about it it just seems quite crazy that riders are penalized for trying their hard
00:20tricks because when we ride with our friends at home like we try a trick we fall and our friends
00:27are like get up try that again you got it you know like that's like the whole metaphor of BMX
00:31is to get up and try again and you never pull something first go and so the BMX format the
00:38competition format these days is like a 60 second run where the riders have to land every single
00:43trick so they kind of have to play it a little bit safe and so I just thought we need to we need to
00:48really let the riders have the freedom to try their best tricks and not penalize them and just
00:53let them have like a time time slot to do that and that should create high drama for people
00:59watching you know looking at the clock and then looking at riders really really you know going
01:04through the the the hard process of falling and getting back up and then trying again and falling
01:12and getting back up and then in the end hopefully pulling it just in the nick of time
