'Emily is home': Joy as British hostage reunited with mother under Gaza ceasefire deal

00:00British-Israeli woman Emily Damari has finally been released

00:03after spending the past 15 months as a hostage of Hamas.

00:06The 28-year-old was captured during the terror group's

00:09surprise attack on October 7th, 2023,

00:12and her family has described the battle for her release

00:14as ongoing torture.

00:15In an Instagram post on Monday morning,

00:17Emily thanked her friends and family for their support

00:20and said she is the happiest person in the world.

00:22Emily's mother, Mandy, who grew up in Southeast London,

00:25fiercely campaigned for her daughter's freedom.

00:27She was finally released on Sunday

00:28alongside fellow hostages Romy Gonen and Doran Steinbrecher.

00:32All three women were assessed at Sheba Medical Centre

00:35in Tel Aviv, with doctors reporting

00:36that they were in stable condition

00:38and will be monitored for a few days.

00:40In a statement released on Monday,

00:41Emily's mother thanked all the people

00:43who helped bring her home

00:44and said she's doing better than anticipated.

00:46Their release followed a pause in fighting

00:48that began at 9.15am GMT on Sunday.
