00:18A Chinese National was confronted by the Department of Justice.
00:22It was discovered by the National Bureau of Investigation last Friday night in Makati City.
00:27Because of the espionage, the suspect was identified as Den Yuen Ching, a software engineer and a five-year resident in the Philippines.
00:36The Chinese were accused of espionage because they saw a LiDAR sensor in his car that can capture 3D image and location of houses from outside the structure.
00:49It is possible that the information was sent in real-time to China.
00:54We found out that the car that they were using was a RAV4 with a plate number NBN2628.
01:04Their espionage equipment was mounted on that car.
01:10Technology and human intelligence.
01:13Many people are accusing us about these kinds of activities.
01:19This is the same type of intelligence that we are also using against POGOs.
01:25That's why we can see them.
01:29According to the National Bureau of Investigation, some of the places where the suspect went were EDCA sites in Luzon,
01:35some power plants, National Grid Corporation of the Philippines, offices of LGUs, and there were also confiscated land and malls.
01:43The spread of information of the Chinese National Bureau of Investigation started in December and the whole of Luzon was surrounded by it.
01:51They frequented critical infrastructures, specifically military camps, bases, power plants, LGU offices, police camps, stations, even shopping malls.
02:08They have a map of where to go.
02:12In fact, their plan was to target the whole of Visayas and Mindanao after they went around the whole of Luzon.
02:20The AFP admitted that the suspect obtained sensitive information.
02:24That's why they are now being held in offices and military bases in the Philippines.
02:29The suspect we caught was a specialist in terms of control engineering and automation of engineering through interdiction operations.
03:00And second, what was the participation?
03:02The two Filipino suspects, Ronel Jojo Balundo Besa and Jason Amado Fernandez, who is also the driver of the vehicle, were also involved.
03:10But one of the Filipinos who was caught refused to give an allegation.
03:13Do you have an operation here? No? That's what you want to say?
03:25Do you have anything else to say?
03:28The NBI is now investigating the Chinese financier who sends more than a million pesos to the bank every week.
03:36They are also investigating if the suspect has a connection to People's Liberation Army Science University in Nanjing, China.
03:43Authorities are also investigating if the government of China is involved in espionage.
03:48From People's Television Network, Luisa Erispe for Balitang Pambansa.
