00:00They seem to have it all. But then Jessica Simpson pulled the plug on her decade-long
00:04marriage to Eric Johnson. Sources take us inside their split in this week's cover story.
00:09According to sources, the pair had been living separate lives for over a year before making
00:13the announcement of their split on January 13. Back in November, when reports of Johnson
00:18slurring with another woman began to surface, a source told us that they realized that their
00:23issues were too large to overcome. They add that there were trust issues caused by the
00:27breakdown of their marriage. She's sad about the split, but knows she had to make a tough decision.
00:32Now, the two fell fast and hard for each other after meeting at a party back in 2010. The couple
00:37went on to welcome three children, and in 2017, Eric supported Simpson in her sobriety. A source
00:43said sobriety made the marriage better. They both became more present when they got sober.
00:48But things apparently took a turn after that, when, according to a source,
00:52he had been seen flirting with a woman at a bar. They add that Jessica is not the type of
00:57woman to put up with anything. She's independent, and she has her own mind and money and her family
01:02support. The two did try to make it work, with a source telling us that they'd done counseling
01:07before, but it didn't get them anywhere, and Jessica wasn't interested in doing it again.
01:12They've had enough of the back and forth and ups and downs. They want different things.
01:17Jessica's source says that there is a prenup in place, but adds that the divorce could get messy.
01:21In the meantime, Jessica isn't going to worry about what Eric's doing.
01:25She's doing her own thing, too. And she's also leaning on family members,
01:29especially her sister Ashley. A source tells us that Jessica's family wants her to feel safe,
01:33secure and happy. They support whatever decisions she makes to keep her and the kids in a stable place.
