00:00But it's not just about talking about it, it's getting the funding because, you know,
00:03the government, they just allocate a little bit of money each year, but they end up spending
00:08millions because of the police service, because of the fact that they have to have a safe
00:13house.
00:14They end up spending so much money anyway if they just set it aside and allocate it
00:18properly and go to a charity with a foundation that actually the money goes direct to the
00:24survivor and they actually get the benefits from it, you know.
00:28Then it's the education, you know, and I actually got an honorary doctorate, I can't even say
00:33that word, it's very big for me, an honorary doctorate in Leeds, but in receiving that
00:38I put myself back to college and I did a course in trauma-informed care so I can understand
00:46even more the ramifications.
00:48We all have trauma, we all deal with it differently, but specifically when you've been abused you
00:52need a different kind of care and understanding.
00:56You know, we can all go to AA, NA, we can get our families to go to analogue, there's
01:00all that support there, but when it comes to abuse, there's nothing still and this is
01:05our problem and predominantly it's a woman's problem.
01:09You know, if I wanted to report and deal with the justice system, you know, I'm fighting
01:15a losing battle because the judges are not educated, I have to sit next to my perpetrator
01:22and how am I going to feel?
01:23I'm going to be stumbling, I'm going to be sweating, I'm going to have anxiety, I never
01:26want to see this person again as long as I live, but dealing with the word abuse, it
01:33leaves us women completely broken and shattered.
