00:00You know, I never really envisioned what my dream home would be like.
00:11I just wanted to feel like when I'm there, I'm safe.
00:16What's up, you guys?
00:20I am Megan Good, and welcome to my beautiful black home.
00:32So this is my courtyard, and I love this courtyard.
00:38It is perfect because it's super safe.
00:40I love this grass, and it's so comfortable.
00:42This is just one of my favorite areas to take a break.
00:45You guys, look, it's a, what are they called, a praying mantis.
00:50So there's lots of praying mantis out here, which I know is good luck.
00:53We also have lots of deers.
00:55As I was going through the process of my divorce, the healing process, I ended up staying in
00:58an Airbnb up in Mulholland.
01:02And while I was there, I realized that being in the hills kind of reminded me of my childhood.
01:09And so I began the process of looking for a home, and crazy enough, my dad, all the
01:14way in Hawaii, sent me this house a few months prior.
01:19So I came and saw it, and the first day that I came and saw it, there was a deer outside
01:23in the front yard.
01:24And I was like, that's a good sign.
01:27So now that you guys have seen a bit of the courtyard, I'm going to take you through the
01:31other side into the front door.
01:35When you come in, one of the things I love about the front door is this massive door.
01:40That's one of the things that made me want to buy this house.
01:42I also love the stone entryway.
01:46I just have never seen anything like this in front of a house.
01:48Like when you first, first walk in, and I just fell in love with that.
01:52When I first got here, I felt very empowered that I had finally bought a home.
01:57When you walk in the front door, you can walk straight from the front to the back.
02:00Like when you open that front door, you can see straight through to the view immediately.
02:04It just makes you feel like you're indoor, outdoor.
02:08And it's just, yeah, it's just a really good feeling.
02:10It's almost like being on a retreat, but being at home.
02:14So this is the guest room and it's still being worked on and kind of worked out, but I have
02:20some big frames coming right here, some cool things that are going to go above the bed
02:24and just more to come.
02:25But I also love this room because I put up my Shazam picture.
02:29For me, it was a big deal because I kept saying how there was no real like black female superheroes
02:35outside of Halle Berry and X-Men.
02:38And so I was like, I really want for little girls to be able to see themselves when they
02:42watch these movies and see themselves represented.
02:44I'm going to have y'all check out the master bedroom now.
02:49I love this bedroom because so many of the walls are just windows.
02:55As you can see, the view is incredible from this room.
02:58It has a lot of great light, but you can also kind of, you know, make it a little darker
03:02without making it a little darker.
03:05So you still get some sunlight, which I love, wakes us up naturally and it's good for your
03:08brain.
03:09So this is the master bathroom.
03:11And one of the things I love most about this bathroom is the shower.
03:16It's actually a steam shower.
03:18So when I come in here and close the door, this whole entire thing steams up.
03:21I would call my home the ultimate take a break living space because from the moment you walk
03:28in, you kind of just take your shoes off and you literally take a break and you rest and
03:34you relax.
03:35So I got to show y'all these.
03:39These are my plans for the guest bathroom.
03:42So I'm going to lay these out so you can actually see, but this is the wallpaper that Jay and
03:47I built to go in the bathroom.
03:50So if you come close, come over here, look, come, come, look.
03:54See you got everything from Foxy Brown to Naomi Campbell to Busta and Higher Learning,
04:00Michael Myers, Clueless, of course Martin Luther King, of course we got to find Coretta
04:05if you know what I mean.
04:06So when I first got here, all of this backsplash was like blue and I was like, no, I don't
04:12want it to be blue.
04:13And so I turned it into a subway tile in black, which I love.
04:18Redid a lot of like the handles just to make sure that it was very vintage to go along
04:23with the vintage stove and oven.
04:26And then redid all of the little ports for charging and all that good stuff.
04:31This table, I wanted it to be a little vintage and still have kind of these like natural
04:36edges, but I wanted it to have the epoxy in it, the resin and to be more of like a smoother
04:43kind of dressier table for the inside.
04:46Now this is my primary space where we entertain guests.
04:53We want everyone to feel comfortable.
04:54My favorite way to take a break inside is to curl up on the couch and just kind of rest
05:02and relax one way or another.
05:05The first thing I fell in love with was the fireplace because the entire wall was a fireplace.
05:10The second thing that I kind of loved was that there was no real space to put a TV initially.
05:15So we put her there.
05:17We just pull her down.
05:20Now I'm about to take y'all to my favorite part of the entire house.
05:27My beautiful black home backyard.
05:30This is the pool.
05:31The pool is saltwater and it is heated.
05:36So we are out here all the time.
05:38Finally got my little outside fire pit.
05:41So spend a lot of time out here at night.
05:44Again, just enjoying the view and the lights and the stars and all the beautiful things
05:50to be able to live, to breathe, to be able to walk, to be able to see, to be able to
05:56do what I do for a living, to be able to be helpful to other people, especially other
06:01women, especially young girls.
06:03That for me is like the ultimate break because I'm truly in touch with what matters the most
06:08to me.
