00:00Education Pathways Bill is expected to be approved by the Camarasa next week.
00:05Meanwhile, the views of some children are divided
00:09up to the controversial Proposed Prevention of Adolescent Pregnancy Act.
00:14Mera Lesmora in Central Nabalita, live.
00:19Angelique, before the new session break of Camarasa,
00:22it is expected to be passed in the third and final reading.
00:26This is a bill for the sector of education called Education Pathways Bill.
00:32One of the members of this committee,
00:35if it is passed, it is expected to help in expanding job opportunities for the youth.
00:44According to the House Committee on Basic Education and Culture Chair, Roman Robolo,
00:49one of the main members of House Bill No. 11213,
00:54providing education pathways for basic education students
00:58after the passing of the bill in the second reading of Tom Hercules,
01:02it is expected to be passed in the last reading of Camarasa next week.
01:07Under the Education Pathways Bill,
01:09the current education program is being prepared for the junior high school students
01:15to choose the education pathway they want to help in choosing their careers.
01:20Roman Robolo expects that if the system of the current K-12 program is implemented properly,
01:25more opportunities will be opened for students
01:29and it will also help in the development of the country.
01:34Here, what we are saying is that there should be no more strands, no more tracks,
01:40and no more subjects.
01:43What should be taught, because the most important thing is functional literacy.
01:48The student should be prepared when he or she arrives at the college.
01:51So what we are saying is that the general subjects of the first year college should be taught as mandatory.
01:57So that there is an opportunity, because we have extended it for two years,
02:01there is an opportunity to get credit, depending on the college or university he or she will enter,
02:06to get credit for English 1, History 1, that's all.
02:10But again, there can still be electives.
02:14Aside from the controversial Proposed Prevention of Adolescent Pregnancy Act
02:19that will change the Comprehensive Sexuality Education Program in the country,
02:24the views of congressmen are different.
02:27It has already passed through the House of Representatives, but now, it is being studied by lawmakers.
02:34What we are telling them is to study,
02:39and on Monday, there will be a second committee meeting
02:44for the deputies to report back
02:46on what is their basis for implementing,
02:50because if it cannot be just RH law,
02:53I will not believe that it is just RH law, because it only says adolescent.
02:58They will explain the training,
03:00they will also explain the consultations,
03:03because this is also very important.
03:05What is good about this is that it will be more comprehensive
03:10and will complement what is in the Reproductive Health Law.
03:16We want the curriculum to be organized.
03:18It is not true that we will teach the children to f**k.
03:24In fact, there are many studies that show that
03:30while the children are not yet formally taught the concepts related to their bodies,
03:38they can engage in risky activities.
03:44That is why it is better if there is proper guidance for them.
03:53Angelique, until the first week of February,
03:56the session of the congressmen, before the new break,
03:59is expected to give way to the election period.
04:03The congressmen say that before their new session break,
04:07they are expected to read a lot of last and third readings
04:11so that the country can move forward.
04:16Angelique?
04:17Okay, thank you very much, Melang Lesmoras.
