Selangor Customs, through Ops Tengu 2024, seized three cars, 54 motorcycles and 25 imported mini motorcycles worth RM1.1mil from a premises in Batu Caves on Nov 19, said assistant director-general Norlela Ismail.

At a press conference on Friday (Jan 24), Norlela explained that the items were uncovered following raids on three premises used to store imported used vehicles and motorcycle spare parts (half-cuts), with three individuals detained to assist in investigations.

00:00This case was filed on the 19th of November last year through Ops Tengu 2024.
00:15Through this case, the Customs Zone Tengah, Unit 2 Selangor,
00:21has made a search and inspection of three premises located around Batu Caves in Selangor.
00:31The purpose is to identify the premises that store used vehicles and motorcycles,
00:38as well as used vehicles or half carts that are transported to Malaysia.
00:43As a result of the inspection of the three premises,
00:47the police have identified three units of used imported vehicles,
00:5254 units of motorcycles and 25 units of mini imported motorcycles,
00:59which are suspected to have no import permit and other import documents.
01:05The value of the theft is estimated to be RM522,526.
01:12The duties and fees involved are RM674,861.
01:19Three individuals have been detained to assist in the investigation.
01:23For your information, the importation of goods is related to the import permit issued by the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry, or MITI,
01:34under Section 135.1.1 of the Customs Regulations.
01:44This case is still under investigation.
01:47The modus operandi used is to deny the sale of goods,
01:54and part of it is denied.

02:15If a crime is committed, the court can sentence the person to at least 10 times the value of the item,
02:24or RM100,000 or more,
02:27and not more than RM20 times the value of the item,
02:32or RM500,000 or more,
02:35or imprisonment of at least 6 months,
02:38and not more than 5 years or both.
