00:00Well, the move from coal to solar is long overdue for some.
00:03Juliet Mann has been talking to Eric Law, Vice President, Longhi,
00:07the world's largest manufacturer of solar modules.
00:12That's very interesting. That's very much aligned with rapid deployment and the speed, right?
00:16We typically will contribute to the decline cost and the technology innovation
00:22and also scale up of the manufacturing. That's all of the contributing factors.
00:26But the energy transition is starting after the Paris Agreement.
00:30The trend is never turning around regardless, okay?
00:34So we are seeing it's clearly the solar energy has become,
00:40initially we call it a complementary energy source.
00:43Now it's become a prevailing energy source.
00:46It's become because of the cost and because of deployment,
00:49because of affordability, because of accessibility,
00:52and also it's fit a lot of area, every corner globally, as long as you have sunlight.
00:58So it's clearly become the main trend. That's explained why it's overtaking the coal.
01:03So it's overtaking coal. Do you see that trend continuing?
01:07Because when you think about, you know, Donald Trump saying, drill, baby, drill,
01:10you might think, well, hang on, solar's got less of momentum behind it.
01:16Yeah, I think that's part of the challenge the solar transition is facing, right?
01:22This geopolitical challenge and also some extreme weather conditions
01:26is disrupt the energy system or grid system or transmission system.
01:32But keep in mind, right, the more those challenges we are facing,
01:37the more we need a resilient and stabilized, we call distributed energy system.
