Nick Harris from the Fort Worth Star-Telegram joined the GBag Nation to discuss the latest he's hearing on the Cowboys' coaching search. They discuss what Brian Schottenheimer's selling points would be to fans, the Deion Sanders rumors that won't go away, and if Mike McCarthy and the team could circle back together if he doesn't get the Saints job.

00:00I think what are really the selling points for a Brian Schottenheimer for a fan base
00:19that seems very underwhelmed by that hire?
00:23I don't necessarily have a selling point for the fan base.
00:26I probably wouldn't be the one to speak on that, but I think the idea is that it brings
00:32offensive consistency from the past couple of years, but it's the consistent points that
00:38some offensive personnel feel could actually translate into more success than they had
00:41in 2024.
00:42Now granted, Mike McCarthy had a heavy influence on these last couple of years.
00:47He was the main play caller.
00:48He was the one that built the offense.
00:50This would be more of an idea of Brian Schottenheimer and Dak Prescott taking pieces from those
00:54offenses and kind of building their own structure and what that would look like in 2025.
01:00There's a lot of player support for Brian Schottenheimer.
01:02He is a player's coach.
01:06When it comes to culture building, I think this is probably going to be a really strong
01:09hire from that perspective, but I think the question that everybody would have to ask
01:12is, okay, he's been a coordinator this long.
01:15He's been an assistant in the league this long, over 20 years.
01:18Why hasn't the head coach opportunity come?
01:21I'm sure that's what the two days of interviews were for, were to evaluate Schottenheimer
01:26in that sense and maybe come to an answer to that question and then try to ask, okay,
01:30is he ready for that opportunity now with the pieces that are in place?
01:34As it seems, there's enough support in the front office, in the building, to where it
01:39seems likely that Schottenheimer will be the head coach.
01:41It's just a matter of when at this point.
01:44I think you guys are probably as surprised as I am that it hasn't happened yet.
