Snowfall records in Louisiana, Alabama and Florida weren't just broken by this week's snow-they were doubled or even tripled.
Transcript
00:00We just had not only a once-in-a-generation snowstorm across the Gulf Coast,
00:04we had a once-in-a-century type of snowstorm across the Gulf Coast.
00:09Here are the highest totals per state from the snowfall we had earlier this week
00:14from Louisiana, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, even South Carolina
00:18had some areas that had over half a foot of total snowfall.
00:22Just look at what they had to deal with there in Pensacola.
00:25And you look at the highest 24-hour snowfall ever in Louisiana,
00:29we beat that record here earlier this week.
00:32And not only Louisiana, but look at Florida.
00:35Florida, we beat that old record there.
00:37And Milton, look at that, 9.8 inches, almost over doubled that record.
00:43But in addition to that, look at all these areas that saw record-breaking snowfall
00:46from Lake Charles to New Orleans, Mobile, Pensacola, Panama City.
00:50But it's that 9 inches we're going to primarily talk about in Pensacola
00:54that was the highest one because if you look at these numbers,
00:57overall, you can see this, these records from New Orleans to Mobile to Pensacola,
01:02they didn't just set them, they shattered them by over two times as much.
01:07So whenever you put that into context, as far as the snowfall,
01:10if this type of snowstorm happened in Chicago,
01:13that would have been 72, 6 feet of snowfall, which is as tall as a full-grown rhino.
01:19Across Denver, if that much snowfall would have felt, that would have been 91.3 inches,
01:23which is 7 foot 7 inches, 6 inches taller than Shaquille O'Neal.
01:28If this type of snowfall fell in Detroit,
01:30that would have been enough snow to cover an entire full-size Christmas tree.
01:35For New York, that would have been 105.7 inches, which is the size of a full-grown black bear.
01:42And for Buffalo, 131 inches, that's what it would have been up there.
