00:00It took 25 takes because I couldn't not look in the camera, so I would do like, I would go,
00:07line, line, line, and then I'd go.
00:14Had any of you spent any time in the American West?
00:18I just, we went to my first like proper rodeo out there and that was kind of incredible because
00:24I don't know, it's like an idea of a rodeo, it has existed in my brain and in my life,
00:29through culture and all these things, but to actually be sat in the seats and like watching
00:34these little tiny kids come out like strapped to sheep and just getting like totally tossed
00:42into the dirt, what is it called?
00:44Mutton racing?
00:45Mutton busted.
00:46Mutton busted.
00:48And they were getting busted, those little kids.
00:50The girl, the little girl who won got picked up and they gave her a mic, remember?
00:54And she, and they were like, would you like to do this again?
00:56And she was like, no.
00:58She's honest.
01:00So that was actually really incredible.
01:02It's like, you can tell that it's such a part of the communal experience in those places
01:08and it was really special to kind of witness.
01:12What was really meaningful to me about having like these folks join me out there was, and
01:19it was, it was kind of accidental but became very profound, was that like, the story is
01:24about kind of unlikely communities and families that are thrown together in, in odd ways,
01:32but like share something very beautiful.
01:35And that accidentally like really was what happened there.
01:40And that's what movies can be, is all sorts of odd parts thrown together that create like
01:47something sort of whole.
01:49So it was like a real pleasure to feel like I was sharing my home with people who were
01:54like, who found a way to love it, I think, the way I do.
01:58Oh yeah.
01:59Lily, what are Josh and Megan like as movie parents?
02:03Um, they're lots of fun.
02:09In between scenes, me and Josh made up a secret handshake.
02:14We would sit and chat.
02:17They were always supportive and making sure that I was comfortable with the scene, making
02:24sure I knew my lines, making sure that everyone was ready, but constantly checking in to check
02:34if I was ready.
02:36And yeah, they were just really good.
02:40Thanks, though.
02:42Did you ever have to check if they knew their lines?
02:44Never.
02:47Yep.
02:48I think it was more the other way around.
02:50What's everyone's memory of their first ever red carpet?
02:55It's a whole blur.
02:56A lot of, you know, reminders right before I go out there kind of a thing.
03:00But it was fun, but odd.
03:02I get that at the same time, you know, getting yelled at by everybody.
03:05And look here, look here.
03:07There's a lot of instructions.
03:08And I remember not, you know, the smile and not to look scared.
03:11And I don't know, it was cool, I guess.
03:14I think it's something that people assume they know what it's like, but you really can't
03:18explain it until you're actually there.
03:20And I feel like every event, every red carpet is different, for sure.
03:24But all in the same, because you're still getting yelled at by all the photographers.
03:28To tweak the question slightly for you guys, because you use a lot of first time actors.
03:32If anyone has any strong memories from their first ever acting job?
03:36Magnus, who made your first job?
03:38Uh, the first set I was on was Gossip Girl.
03:45Very cool.
03:45I had like two scenes and I broke the shoes that I was wearing.
03:50Was that in the suit?
03:52Is that scripted?
03:53No, I was just, I was wearing heels and I was really nervous.
03:56I was so nervous.
03:58And I was sort of rocking back on them.
04:00Like, I wasn't even on camera when it was happening.
04:02I was just like waiting for something to happen.
04:04And it just, good job.
04:06Um, and I just remember they were saying a bunch of words that meant nothing to me.
04:11And at one point they were like turning around and I was like,
04:16you know, like I just, it was gibberish to me.
04:18It was so uncomfortable.
04:19Like I kind of hated it.
04:22But everybody was really nice to me though.
04:24So that was a highlight, I guess.
04:27Uh, my first on a set was awful.
04:32I did a television show, which was like a very, um, it was like a detective.
04:38We have loads of these detective dramas in the UK,
04:41often set in like remote villages in England,
04:45where seemingly everyone gets murdered all the time.
04:48There's like a new investigation every week.
04:50And I was in one of those episodic episodes and I had one line.
04:54And I just had to say the line, kiss the girl on the cheek.
05:00And then that was my job.
05:02That's all I had to do.
05:03But I could, it took 25 takes because I couldn't not look in the camera.
05:10So I would do like, I would go line, line, line.
05:12And then I go, and they'd be like, cut.
05:16You could just look anywhere else.
05:18And I'd be like, yeah, no worries.
05:20And I go line, line, line.
05:21And then I go, and look straight down again.
05:25I just couldn't help it.
05:26It was like this magnet.
05:28It took years to overcome that.
05:32So anyway, so I wasn't a great experience.
05:34But they were, like you guys, they were really understanding of me.
05:38Yeah.
05:38And it has happy ending.
05:40You made it.
05:42Yeah.
05:42I still do it to this day.
05:43Right, Max?
05:44Yeah, you had to edit out all the double takes to the camera.
05:48Yeah.
05:49I didn't know how far back that went.
05:57Yeah.
05:57Yeah.
05:57Yeah.
