00:00After 144 years, the Mahakumbha has been established in Prayagraja, which is why the Mahakumbha has a special charm.
00:20The Mahakumbha has been a part of the world for more than 1.5 million years.
00:27The Mahakumbha came to Prayagraja from Greece on the condition of a full bath, even after marriage.
00:32This is true even if you think about it.
00:35With an Indian named Siddhartha, this Mahakumbha got married in a marriage alliance in Penelope, Greece.
00:45They got married in the Mahakumbha marriage alliance.
00:48On this day, Lal went to Greece to get married.
01:14We wanted to do it in the most authentic manner, which would be simple yet divine.
01:34For that, we chose Prayagraj Mahakumbha, the specific date.
01:42We know that at this point of time, it's the best place, probably not just in the country or in the world, but in the universe to be where all forms of divinities, all forms of holy places, pilgrimages, everything is present here.
01:58You meet such great souls. We get to meet Maharaj Ji every single day and receive his blessings on a daily basis.
02:06That itself is such a pleasure for the heart and the soul.
02:12Having family come here because of marriage reasons, also to attend the Mahakumbha because of the wedding is an added bonus and we feel very, very great and mesmerized.
02:24What more can a man ask for?
02:36Maharaj Ji has told that you live in many of these countries, but why have you chosen only the Indian way, the Sanatan way to do marriage?
02:46See, at the end of the day, when we think about marriage and you look at the concept of marriage, people are forgetting that marriage is a very holy institution.
02:58There are many amazing things about marriage. Even when you look at the Devi-Devatas of Sanatan Dharma, they are all together.
03:06They are in a pair. It gives us an understanding that man and women are completers of each other. Without a man, a woman is incomplete and without a woman, a man is incomplete.
03:20Following ancient lineages, following ancient traditions is not something which should be frowned upon. We should embrace it.
03:32At the end of the day, we are the world's oldest civilization which is alive. All the other old civilizations are extinct or gone or non-existent.
03:46At the end of the day, when you think about it, it is only Sanatan Dharma which is ancient window to the rest of the world.
03:56It was the most obvious as well as the most wisest choice to accept it and live that way of life and marriage being the highest institution for a person in their life.
04:08It had to be done in the way that we did it today, the Vedic way.
04:13What was the feeling of your parents, mother-father and her mother-father who accepted it?
04:21Oh, you missed my father's face. He was probably the happiest man on the planet today.
04:30Because not only did he get to see his son get married but he's got such a beautiful, gentle-hearted, such a special soul as his daughter-in-law.
04:42He was ecstatic. He kept on, he was almost crying out of happiness. My mother was, she was so tired yesterday but today she forgot all her tiredness.
04:55My sister was jubilant. My niece was having a great time. Penelope's mother, she smiled the entire day.
05:02There was, it was the best thing that could have happened to us.
05:07I'm Siddhartha Shiv Khanna.
05:10I think what has happened today is something magical beyond words.
05:21And it's only when I see some of the pictures, I realize the divine energy we were experiencing at this authentic ceremony that just took place.
05:37I was saying that I've never been to an Indian wedding and today I was the bride so everything was new to me.
05:45But at the same time very familiar, very beautiful, such a sweet feeling in the heart.
05:53So yes, what happened was a ceremony, a marriage in an authentic, more ceremonial, more spiritual way according to Vedic scriptures.
06:08And yeah, it was amazing.
06:12Why did you choose Mahatma to get married?
06:17Actually, he asked me where would you like to get married, Greece or India?
06:23And I'm very glad that I said I really want to do that in India.
06:29There are some things that have been changing over the years.
06:33Like we see weddings as just another opportunity to have a party and get drunk.
06:39And for us it was something more divine, as Siddhartha already said.
06:45So it was very nice to see a different perspective of a wedding.
06:50How can a wedding be on a more spiritual base and enjoy the moment?
06:57Not trying to avoid what you're feeling by getting drunk, which okay, I'm not judging.
07:05But for us it was something different.
07:08We just wanted to enjoy every moment and have this opportunity to be with all the spiritual people, all the saints.
07:16The amount of blessings we received, all the devotees and devotees that were here for us, for our wedding as witnesses.
07:26It was so spectacular, so amazing.
07:30It was what we were hoping and maybe beyond our dreams for our wedding day.
07:36What was that thing that triggered you to join Sanatana Dharma?
07:55What was the thing that triggered you to join Sanatana Dharma?
07:59I guess it's when you find something that answers this question.
08:05What's the purpose of my life? What am I doing here? Who am I?
08:10All these kind of questions.
08:13You get these kind of replies, these kind of answers in Sanatana Dharma.
08:21That's a combination of science and spirituality.
08:26This combination of knowledge and something beyond what you see.
08:32So well combined that makes so much sense that you see if you apply it on your daily life, how it can take you beyond this ordinary life.
08:42For me it was like the way, the door that opened a different perspective of what I'm doing in this life.
08:52Why was I born in this planet?
08:57For me it's the way to have a meaningful, happy life and be able to go beyond this circle of birth and rebirth.
09:12So this is what really triggered me as a person.
09:16Because as a person I was looking for a solution of this sadness of all this tragedy that happens in life.
09:27I was trying to figure out why.
09:30So love, karma came.
09:32It was like a puzzle but everything was like a piece that was making some sense when you put it all together.
09:41I was into buddhism for many years and after that I realized how everything comes from Sanatana Dharma.
09:48So I always like to go to the source instead of having somebody else who speaks about the source.
09:56I always like to read from the source and have the guru to give me the instructions about what to do and how to do it.
10:05So Sanatana Dharma is the way to go there.
10:09When you decided to join Sanatana, what was the reaction of the family?
10:13Did any hurdle come in between joining the Sanatana?
10:18My parents are very sweet.
10:20The only thing that they wanted for me and they had openly said to me is that they want me to be happy.
10:29I'm really grateful for that.
10:32They never said you should be this, you should be that.
10:35We don't agree.
10:37So for as long as they could see me happy, they were happy with my choices.
10:43So that's very kind of them.
10:46And they're both spiritual in a very different way but they both agree that God has many different names.
10:56So they are okay if I practice in a different way.
11:02What do you like about your life?
11:10I like every moment here.
11:12Every breath that I take here.
11:14All the saints, sannyasis, all these people that I meet here.
11:19It's such a great opportunity that you never face, I mean for sure not in Greece but even in India which is such a big country.
11:30To be able to meet all these people that you find here, I think it would take months, even years.
11:39And here they're all together.
11:42So the people that I meet, the energy that this place has, Mata Ganga and Triveni Sangam that I can join in such a specific day.
11:53It's a great opportunity.
11:55It's divine.
11:57Upcoming is 9th, 29th.
11:59About one year or so you have a marriage.
12:02Will you take a holy dip in Sangam?
12:05Of course.
12:06Of course.
12:07I wouldn't miss that.
12:08I mean I already had the opportunity.
12:12We've been here since the very beginning.
12:15And we're planning to stay until everything is off.
12:22So I'm looking for that opportunity.
12:26And I'm very grateful that I'm able to be here.
12:30And my mother also.
12:31Last question.
12:32You have enjoyed the marriage, the functions up here as well.
12:35How has that mattered for you?
12:37It was amazing.
12:39I mean I enjoyed it not only because it was a new experience for me and everything was new.
12:44I enjoyed the uniqueness.
12:48It's true.
12:49My henny.
12:51I really enjoyed that.
12:53And also the whole ceremony.
12:57And this way of chanting mantras in this ancient Vedic way.
13:06And all these small details.
13:09It was a great experience.
13:11Yes, I really enjoyed it.
