01:14Wake Up Deadman will continue writer-director Rian Johnson's tradition of introducing a
01:18whole new cast of characters.
01:20The only exception is Daniel Craig's quirky detective, Benoit Blanc, who's returning for
01:24a third time.
01:25Josh Brolin, Glenn Close, Jeremy Renner, and Mila Kunis are just a few of the latest batch
01:30of actors to play potential suspects in the ever-expanding Knives Out universe.
01:34Given that it is the biggest Netflix movie of all time in terms of views, with a staggering
01:38239 million watches as of December 2023, it shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that Red
01:44Notice already has two sequel scripts in the works.
01:47Still, the world of streaming moves pretty fast, so even for a movie as popular as Red
01:51Notice, it might be easy for people to forget that follow-ups have been announced.
01:55The original film, starring Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, and Gal Gadot, Red Notice is
01:59an action-heist comedy about stealing ancient artifacts and double- and triple-crosses.
02:04And of course, with three ridiculously charming actors at the center of it all, it's hard
02:07not to smile the entire time.

02:15Updates on the sequels have been fairly quiet since around 2022.
02:18That's when it was revealed that the script for the second movie was finished, with plans

02:25Little else has been said since then, but given how big of a property this is for Netflix,
02:29there's no way it's going to be abandoned.
02:31From Joe and Anthony Russo, the directing team behind Avengers Endgame, among other
02:35MCU films, came the 2022 Netflix feature The Gray Man.
02:39The action thriller re-teamed the Russos with Chris Evans while also allowing them to work
02:43with Ryan Gosling for the first time.
02:44Evans played a disgraced former CIA agent turned mercenary who has been hired to take down
02:49Gosling's convicted-turned-CIA agent.
02:51The two have great chemistry together in their cat-and-mouse game, with action set pieces
02:55as well-executed as you'd expect from the Russo brothers.
02:58Netflix was talking up a Gray Man universe before the first movie even hit the streaming
03:02service.
03:03The first sequel was confirmed to be in the works shortly after, with Gosling and the
03:06Russos returning.
03:08But then things went quiet.
03:09In April 2024, Joe Russo did confirm that the sequel was still very much in development.
03:14However, the subsequent news that the Russos will direct both Avengers Doomsday and Avengers
03:18Secret Wars does beg the question of whether The Gray Man 2 has been put on the back burner
03:22once again.
03:24Before The Gray Man, Joe and Anthony Russo paired with Netflix for 2020's Extraction,
03:29another action thriller starring another MCU actor.
03:31This time, it was Chris Hemsworth.
03:33Hemsworth plays Tyler Rake, a mercenary who is hired to rescue the kidnapped son of a
03:36drug kingpin.
03:37Both Russos worked on the story, but only Joe is credited on the actual screenplay.
03:42Neither directed Extraction, with that distinction going to Sam Hargrave, a frequent second-unit
03:46director for the Russos.
03:47Since Extraction got a two-year head start, it already has a sequel under its belt.
03:52Extraction 2 once again saw Joe Russo writing and Sam Hargrave directing.
03:55In June 2023, it was revealed that Extraction 3 was officially in the works at Netflix,
04:00with only Hemsworth and Hargrave confirmed to be involved.
04:02In October of that year, however, the Russos revealed that they were involved with the
04:06story for Extraction 3, and that filming is set to take place in 2025.
04:10This makes it pretty likely that we'll see a third Extraction movie before we see a second
04:14installment of The Gray Man.
04:16Since the notoriously troubled release and re-release of 2017's Justice League, director
04:20Zack Snyder has been focusing on the world of streaming.
04:23His latest Netflix original is a follow-up to 2023's Rebel Moon, titled Rebel Moon Part
04:282 The Scargiver, which premiered in 2024.
04:31Like most of Snyder's movies, the sci-fi franchise has mostly failed to win over critics, but
04:35has found a devoted fandom, enough so that Netflix is eager to let Snyder continue making
04:40new entries.
04:41That said, there are plans for as many as four additional Rebel Moon movies, according
04:44to Kurt Johnstad.
04:46He's one of Snyder's co-writers on the series.
04:48Snyder told Forbes in April 2024 that a part three was already in the works.
04:53With Stranger Things about to reach an end, Millie Bobby Brown is ready to focus more
04:56time on other projects.
04:58One of those projects is another Netflix property, the mystery film franchise Enola Holmes, which
05:02sees Brown play the younger sister of famed detective Sherlock Holmes.
05:06There have been two Enola Holmes movies already, with Netflix already planning to expand it
05:10into a trilogy.

05:12In November 2023, it was confirmed that the screenplay was already being written.
05:17The following November brought reports that Brown was just waiting to wrap up filming
05:20on the final season of Stranger Things before she dives into production on the film.
05:24This puts the movie pretty far out, with a 2025 release seeming unlikely.
05:28But it's still in the works.
05:30The general consensus on the 2022 Netflix monster movie Troll is that it wasn't the
05:34most original entry the genre has ever seen, but it's still a solid effort that's worth
05:38watching for fans of giant terrors.
05:40It also positioned itself as one of the best non-English Netflix originals ever released.
05:45Less than a year after it hit the streaming service, Netflix commissioned a sequel, and
05:49by November 2024, Netflix confirmed that production on Troll 2 was well underway.
05:54Audiences should expect the movie to hit the service sometime in 2025, and with any luck,
05:58a third won't be too far behind.
06:01Netflix added another massive A-lister to its roster when it got Charlize Theron to
06:05star in the 2020 action film The Old Guard, based on the graphic novel series of the same

06:11Theron played Andromache, aka Andi, one of the seemingly immortal warriors who had been

06:17Though the ending of The Old Guard hinted at a sequel, that's never a guarantee when

06:22Theron said that she and her castmates were down for it, but that also doesn't necessarily
06:26mean anything.
06:28In January 2021, it was reported that Netflix officially greenlit the sequel, but there
06:32still isn't a release date.
06:34However, in November 2024, Luca Marinelli, who plays one of the immortals, told Collider,
06:38I'm very looking forward to seeing it, to watching it, at the audience, I hope.
06:42So it certainly sounds like it's either done, or very close to it.
06:4620th Century Fox took an ambitious approach to the initial trilogy of Fear Street movies,
06:50filming them back-to-back with the plan of releasing each of them a month apart in 2020.
06:55But when the pandemic put an end to that plan, Disney seemed to lose interest in the movies
06:58entirely.
06:59Netflix subsequently bought them up, and in 2021, Netflix released each of the films across
07:04three weeks in July.
07:05Based on the book series of the same name by author R.L. Stine, the Fear Street trilogy
07:09was critically acclaimed, so there's now a fourth movie on the way.
07:12Unlike the previous films, which were original stories, the next film is taking a more direct
07:16adaptation route and is based directly on Prom Queen, the 15th Fear Street book.
07:21It's also going to be a standalone film in terms of both story and characters.
07:24An exact month hasn't been revealed, but Prom Queen is set to hit Netflix sometime in 2025.
07:30Bank of Dave hit Netflix in 2023.
07:33It's based on the true story of a man who tries to start a bank in order to help the
07:36businesses in his town.
07:37The movie takes a lot of creative liberties with the real story and the people involved,
07:41with several big events being entirely fabricated, but that's made clear during its opening disclaimer.
07:46Still, it's in the service of a feel-good film that's very entertaining.
07:50And since so much of Bank of Dave is fictional, it gives Netflix plenty of room to take a
07:54sequel in any direction it wants.
07:55We don't know what to expect with Bank of Dave 2, which is set to arrive sometime in
07:592025.
08:00In a fun twist, the real Dave, Dave Fishwick, will also appear in Bank of Dave 2, as some
08:05sort of villain character.
08:06He didn't show up in the original movie, though he served as a producer.
08:10Netflix launched its own in-house animation studio in 2019, and it didn't take long for
08:14it to become a legitimate force.
08:16In 2022, the studio released the Oscar-nominated film The Sea Beast, which takes place in a
08:21world where aquatic monsters are abundant and skilled hunters are highly prized for
08:25their efforts.
08:26And this is just another beast.
08:28Now Netflix Animation is set to produce the first sequel to one of its own animated films,
08:33with The Sea Beast 2.
08:34The movie's director and co-writer, Chris Williams, signed a two-movie deal with Netflix
08:38in January 2023 that included both another original work and a sequel to The Sea Beast.
08:44Given the four-year gap between the first movie's announcement and its eventual release,
08:48we're probably still some time away from The Sea Beast 2.
