00:00The price of electricity is expected to go down.

00:03Now, the Maharlika Investment Fund has already collected 20% of the shares

00:08in the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines.

00:11The possibility of the government having control over the decisions of the NGCP is being looked at.

00:17Through this, the better supply of electricity is expected.

00:26In the afternoon, the broken appliances are being assembled by Raul, an electrician,

00:31to earn and get through the months of expenses.

00:45In order for the price to be more affordable and for the supply of electricity to be more stable,

00:50the Maharlika Investment Corporation has already started using the Maharlika Investment Fund in its investment.

00:57This is followed by the purchase of 20%, or equivalent to more than P19 billion,

01:03which is part of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines, or NGCP.

01:08The NGCP is a private corporation that runs the power grid of the country

01:14and delivers electricity to plants to power distributors like Meralco.

01:20The board of the NGCP will be given the Maharlika Investment Corporation.

01:25This means, said President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.,

01:29that the people will have a voice and that the government will have influence

01:34in the decisions of the NGCP to ensure a good supply and a stable supply of electricity.

01:41According to the Energy Department and MIC,

01:44the government will have the right and timely implementation of the NGCP project.

01:50For example, the effect of this is the Mindanao-Visayas Interconnection Project of 2024.

01:56This resulted in a reduction of P1 to P2 in electricity in the spot market in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

02:04Now that the government is part of the NGCP,

02:07the government is positive that transparency will be enhanced.

02:11It will be easy to see if there are or is it true that it is possible to cut off the supply of electricity.

02:18It is expected that the government will not earn P1.24 billion per year in its investment.

02:25Once we identified energy as our top priority,

02:29we then decided to ask ourselves which part of that energy ecosystem,

02:34in fact, requires the most number of investment, the biggest amount of investment, and the highest impact.

02:40And that would be in the distribution lines.
