00:00The Quezon City Prosecutor's Office junked criminal complaints against Vice President
00:05Sara Duterte for the forced transfer of her Chief of Staff Zulaica Lopez to a private
00:10hospital in November 2024.
00:13On November 23, Lopez was detained at the House of Representatives following a contempt
00:17order from the House panel probing the office of the Vice President's alleged fund misuse.
00:22She was supposed to be brought to the Veterans Memorial Medical Center following an anxiety
00:26attack, but Duterte and her security team diverted her to St. Luke's Medical Center.
00:31Quezon City Police filed the complaints of direct assault, disobedience to authority,
00:35and grave coercion against Duterte and her Vice Presidential Security and Protection
00:39Group head, Raymond LaChica.
00:42The prosecutor says there was not enough evidence with reasonable certainty of conviction to
00:46pursue the allegations against Duterte.
00:49The resolution adds, Duterte and LaChica did not attack, use force, or seriously intimidate
00:54Quezon City Police Officer Jason Villamor during the incident.
00:58It also explains, in order for an act to be considered as a direct assault, the use of
01:02physical force must be serious and, quote, must be more severe than just slapping and
01:07punching.
