00:22across four stages. Big Weekend is the station's flagship a live music event
00:26and it kicks off the UK's festival season by bringing some of the biggest
00:30UK and international artists to cities that may not otherwise host such a
00:34large-scale event. With over a hundred thousand music fans expected to attend
00:38the festival shines a light on the surrounding area and provides a major
00:41boost to the local economy with huge demand for tickets ensuring the event
00:45sells out almost immediately every year. Last year's festival generated seven
00:49million pound for the host city of Luton. This year the BBC is working closely
00:53with Liverpool City Council to ensure the event is a safe and secure
00:57environment for all those attending.
