00:00It's been four years since we compared the U.S. and U.K. Domino's,
00:03and since then, quite a bit has changed.
00:05One of our country's pizza doughs has almost doubled the number of ingredients.
00:08And it's not the one you think.
00:09Plus, I have a mustache now.
00:11Price increases, inflation, shrinkflation.
00:15This episode's wild, man. Strap in.
00:17Since our first episode four years ago,
00:19there's been no change in Domino's pizza sizes in the U.K.
00:21Same in the U.S.
00:23But over the past few years,
00:24shrinkflation has become a concern for consumers.
00:26Is our local Domino's delivering what it promises?
00:29Only one way to find out.
00:30Here are the four sizes available at U.K. Domino's.
00:33Firstly, we have the personal pizza,
00:34which is now being branded as a cheeky little pizza.
00:37This one should be 7 inches, and I think it is.
00:39Starting with the small, it's supposed to be 10-inch diameter.
00:4210 inches.
00:45We have the small pizza.
00:46It's advertised as 9 1⁄2 inches.
00:48The meaty boy, medium.
00:50This is supposed to be 12 inches.
00:53Mm, yeah, a foot.
00:56I think so, right?
00:57A medium pizza in the U.K. should be 11.5 inches.
01:00I think they've pretty much got that right.
01:01Our large is supposed to be 14.
01:04I don't know, man.
01:05I'm getting 13 1⁄2, 13 5⁄8 maybe.
01:10Is that shrinkflation, or is it just too close to call?
01:13I mean, if you bake it, it's gonna get a little smaller.
01:15It's gonna get a little more compact,
01:16so it's not unbelievably different, but still.
01:21Our largest pizza is the large, 13.5 inches.
01:24That's pretty much it.
01:25And the large, or the extra-large, bam!
01:29So the ex-large can only be the New York-style pizza.
01:32This is a little thinner, I guess,
01:34but it doesn't look that much thinner.
01:36And I think it's hilarious it's six slices.
01:38That's so funny.
01:39It's supposed to be 16 inches.
01:41Okay, they got 16 on this one.
01:43All in all, it does feel like they are delivering
01:45on the sizes they're promising in the U.K.
01:46Maybe when you order your Domino's pizza
01:49and you get one or two and not 40,
01:52you probably are gonna be getting
01:54a more accurate-sized pizza.
01:55Possible, possible.
01:57Comparing both countries' largest sizes,
01:58the U.S. beats the U.K. by 2.5 inches.
02:012.5 inches may seem like a small amount,
02:03but that means the U.S. large has 57.9 more square inches.
02:08That's roughly the size of an extra 8.2-inch pizza.
02:11But wait!
02:12In a 2023 YouGov survey, one in five people in the U.S.
02:15say they don't eat the pizza crust.
02:17So if this is you and you do this to a U.S. extra-large,
02:20you are discarding the outer one inch of crust
02:23and you are willingly wasting 47.12 square inches of pizza.
02:27You're losing 40 square inches if you don't eat the crust.
02:29Grow up.
02:30Come on.
02:31In 2020, we discovered that a U.S. extra-large
02:33was roughly the same price as a U.K. small.
02:35Those pizzas cost $13.99 and £10.99, respectively.
02:40Prices have jumped up in both countries.
02:42A U.K. small is now £16.99.
02:45A U.S. extra-large is $19.99.
02:48Those prices are with no deals applied.
02:49So in pure numbers terms,
02:51a U.K. small is now more expensive than a U.S. extra-large.
02:54If you went into both places with $22 to spend,
02:57you'd be getting around three times the pizza
02:59for your money in the U.S.
03:01For a fairer comparison,
03:02let's take a look at large pizzas in both countries.
03:04Here's a U.S. large.
03:05It costs $16.99 and has 154 square inches.
03:09That means you're paying 11 cents per square inch.
03:12Here in the U.K., a large cheese pizza costs £21.99
03:15and is 143 square inches.
03:17That's a cost per square inch of 19.7 cents.
03:20That's more than they're paying in the U.S.
03:22First, here's a medium regular pepperoni pizza.
03:24Here's a medium standard pepperoni pizza in the U.K.
03:27Ours is cut into eight slices
03:28and has three slices of pepperoni on each.
03:30Let's see how many pepperonis it has.
03:32Some of these have a little bit of cheese on them,
03:34I can't lie.
03:35That's 24 pieces.
03:36So our medium pepperoni pizza had roughly 30 pepperonis
03:39and 52 grams of pepperoni.
03:4124 slices came to around 42 grams.
03:44Is upgrading to the ultimate pepperoni pizza worth it?
03:47Let's compare the normal pepperoni amount to this amount.
03:51This one had 42 pepperonis and was about 72 grams.
03:54So you're getting roughly 30 grams more of pepperoni
03:56on the ultimate pepperoni pizza for the medium.
03:59I mean, that's not bad, right?
04:00That's pretty good.
04:01You also get an extra type of cheese on there,
04:03so it's not just more pepperoni.
04:04Here's a medium pepperoni passion in the U.K.
04:07This one has four pieces of pepperoni on each slice
04:09for a total of 32.
04:10I'm gonna weigh eight slices of pepperoni
04:12and then add that to the thing.
04:13And we come up with 57 grams.
04:15I will say in addition to the extra pieces of pepperoni,
04:17there's also some more cheese going on here.
04:19And the cheese is kind of on top of the pepperoni
04:21rather than just resting beneath it.
04:22That doesn't seem worth it to me.
04:24Our wings come in orders of eight, 16,
04:27and for the big game, you get 32.
04:30Domino's chicken wings in the U.K. come in two sizes,
04:32a portion of seven and a portion of 14.
04:35We didn't talk about wings in the 2020 episode,
04:37but if we had, it would have been an order of 10.
04:39Yet, in 2022, Domino's wings orders
04:43went down from 10 to eight without changing the price.
04:47They said it was because of wage inflation
04:50and food costs.
04:50In 2022, those eight wings were $8.99,
04:53and today, they're $11.99.
04:56That's a buck 50 per wing.
04:58Back in 2020, we actually just compared
04:59the exclusive toppings rather than the pizzas themselves.
05:02So for the first time, here are the U.K. exclusive pizzas.
05:04We'll start in this corner
05:05with a relatively new addition to the menu.
05:07It's a meatball marinara pizza.
05:09They've been very regimented with the toppings.
05:10Shout out to Surry Keys Domino's, my guy Aaron.
05:14Exactly three meatballs per slice,
05:15as well as some red onion, some seasoning,
05:17and some tomato sauce.
05:20Yeah, not bad.
05:21The meatball's actually still kind of moist.
05:22I still don't know if a meatball is the best
05:24kind of vehicle for meat on a pizza.
05:26Next up, we have the Mighty Meaty.
05:28Lot of meat going on here.
05:29I'm seeing ground beef, sausage, pepperoni, and ham,
05:32as well as some red onion and mushroom.
05:34We have so many exclusive pizzas here in the U.S.
05:36I didn't get all of them,
05:38because I'd be here all day.
05:39Right here is the meat-za.
05:41Pepperoni, sausage, probably ground beef.
05:44They really put a lot of meat on this pizza.
05:48I know we love our meat in this country.
05:49I'm no different,
05:50but I'm not getting a variety of meat here.
05:52I'm getting sausage and something else.
05:53The meat-za, the extravaganza,
05:55they both have two Zs in the title,
05:56probably because you have a slice
05:57and it puts you to sleep.
05:59Overkill on the meats, flavor-wise.
06:02They're all clashing in there.
06:04Skip.
06:05The next one is slightly controversial.
06:07This is a cheeseburger pizza.
06:08It's a cheese and tomato base,
06:10then they add ground beef, red onion,
06:12pickles, tomatoes, and burger sauce.
06:14Burger sauce is quite a popular
06:16kebab shop condiment here in the UK.
06:17The best comparison is probably a Big Mac sauce.
06:20It's got an aggressive smell on it.
06:21If you don't like burger sauce,
06:22if you don't like pickles, stay well clear.
06:26Go into this one with an open mind,
06:28and you might be pleasantly surprised.
06:29I really like it.
06:30It really does taste like a cheeseburger.
06:32It's quite impressive.
06:33Down here, the Philly cheesesteak.
06:34Philadelphia!
06:35I mean, what an insult this is.
06:37If you've had a Philly cheesesteak,
06:39which I'm sure if you watch this show you have,
06:41great sandwich.
06:43It definitely has the Philly cheesesteak taste to it,
06:47but do we want this on a pizza?
06:49I don't know.
06:50Just get a Philly cheesesteak.
06:51Next up, we have the absolute banger pizza.
06:53This one is an attempt at wordplay by Domino's.
06:56Banger in the UK can refer to something that's really good.
06:58A song can be an absolute banger,
07:00but then obviously we also have bangers and mash,
07:01so a banger can also be sausage.
07:03Domino's have got three types of sausage on this one pizza.
07:06We have pepperoni, we have a regular pork sausage,
07:09and we have hot dogs.
07:10Is it an absolute banger?
07:12Not sure.
07:13Might be like a 50% banger.
07:15This pizza is the extravaganza.
07:17Looks like it has all the meats,
07:18and they also threw in onion, green peppers,
07:21and black olives.
07:23That actually is a little better.
07:25I stand corrected.
07:26This is actually, hmm.
07:28You know how I feel about veggies on this show,
07:30but I would get this over that.
07:32Because again, it's just the saltiness of the meat
07:35and the already saltiness of the cheese.
07:37Like, ah, too much,
07:38but the veggies kind of chill it out a little bit, right?
07:41That extravaganza pizza when I tried it was so chaotic,
07:43and it still looks pretty chaotic now.
07:45Learn the art of restraint, Domino's.
07:46This one is the tandoori hot.
07:48In an actual Indian restaurant,
07:50tandoori chicken is marinated and then cooked in a tandoor,
07:53which is a type of oven.
07:54One thing they've done well
07:55is recreate the color of tandoori chicken.
07:59It's not bad.
07:59I really do think the chicken itself actually tastes good.
08:02I think I remember Joe quite liked this one
08:03when he was here.
08:04The tandoori hot was very good.
08:06I did like that.
08:07I wish that was in the US.
08:08We're staying in the spice zone for a minute
08:10with this hot and spicy.
08:11Pretty similar to the tandoori hot in terms of composition,
08:14but instead of the tandoori chicken and mushrooms,
08:16you instead have ground beef.
08:17It's a little bit disappointing.
08:18I think if you have something on the menu
08:19called the hot and spicy,
08:20people are gonna want it to be really spicy.
08:22Over here, we have the meaty-or.
08:24Dinosaurs, avert your eyes.
08:26Throwing it back to the mighty meaty,
08:27this is another very meat-focused pizza.
08:30In terms of toppings,
08:30the meaty-or actually contains meatballs,
08:32sausage, pepperoni, ham, as well as minced beef.
08:36That's five types of meat on one pizza.
08:38Personally, I think that when you have a pizza
08:39with this much meat on it, it's very savory, very salty.
08:42I think when you have something like that,
08:44you need the counterbalance
08:45that you would get from a tomato sauce.
08:47I don't think barbecue sauce does that same job.
08:48It's sweet, but it's still kind of
08:50in that smoky and savory way,
08:51and I think it just ends up being more of the same.
08:53Buffalo chicken pizza.
08:56This, to me, is distinctly American.
08:58Instead of pizza sauce, we have buffalo sauce
09:01and, of course, chicken.
09:02I mean, I like buffalo chicken stuff,
09:04so I'm happy-ish to see this.
09:06Oh, I also see they added some onions there.
09:08Call.
09:09A little much, but overall, pretty good.
09:12I stand by it.
09:13That buffalo chicken thing, barely a pizza.
09:15Here we have the chicken feast.
09:17This one makes me a bit sad.
09:18When you think of a feast, for me,
09:19you think of, like, Henry VIII sitting in a banquet hall
09:22surrounded by gallons of wine and roast boars.
09:27You don't think of this slightly sad chicken-mushroom
09:30and sweet corn combination.
09:31For me, I don't love the texture of sweet corn on pizza.
09:34I don't think it holds up very well
09:35during the baking process.
09:36And then here we have the Texas barbecue pizza.
09:38Texas barbecue was good.
09:40I'm not quite sure what makes it specifically Texas,
09:42but if that was in the US, I think it'd do well.
09:44This one actually has a barbecue sauce base.
09:47That then gets topped with cheese, chicken,
09:49ham, peppers, and red onions.
09:51I personally do not like this pizza.
09:53I had the pleasure of eating some of the best barbecue
09:54in Texas on food tours earlier this year,
09:56so I'll give this a try and see how it compares to that.
10:02Yeah, I just really hate that.
10:04Memphis barbecue chicken.
10:06Memphis, a city in America.
10:09Tennessee, I believe, right?
10:11Yes.
10:12They got great barbecue there, probably.
10:14So why not have a whole Memphis barbecue chicken pizza?
10:20Similar to the Texas pizza I had when I was in the UK,
10:24how Memphis is this thing getting, really?
10:27Memphis, can you get in the chat
10:28and let us know how close is it to your barbecue?
10:30When I think of Memphis,
10:31I think it has more of a sweeter barbecue flavor,
10:34but I do like barbecue, and I do like chicken,
10:37and I drove through Memphis once, and it seemed nice.
10:40So, okay.
10:42Next up is the New Yorker.
10:45I'm walking here.
10:47This one is a cheese and tomato pizza
10:48topped with ham, mushrooms, and pepperoni.
10:50I was fortunate enough to go to New York
10:51and have a lot of New York-style pizza,
10:53and this doesn't look much like the New York pizza
10:55that I had.
10:56This was one of my go-to orders from Domino's
10:58back when I used to actually eat it semi-regularly.
11:01It's a good pizza.
11:02It's not too complicated.
11:04There's only, like, three toppings.
11:05Speaking of places in America,
11:06we got the Wisconsin Six Cheese.
11:08Wisconsin is known for making
11:10so many different varieties of cheese.
11:12It's the cheese state.
11:13I think the problem with this type of pizza
11:15is the same one we have with the meat one.
11:17Hey, I love cheese.
11:19Six cheese, 10 cheese, put all the cheeses.
11:21I'm a cheese lover, but six cheeses in one pizza?
11:26I don't think I can pick out all six,
11:27and I think after two,
11:30you're really struggling to see a diversity
11:33of cheese flavor, but let's find out.
11:36Okay, so I'm seeing something that could be a feta cheese.
11:40Okay.
11:41They got mozzarella in the building,
11:42so mozzarella has to be part of it.
11:44And while we're in that area,
11:46why not throw a little cheddar on there, right?
11:48Okay.
11:49Swiss?
11:50American?
11:52Parmesan.
11:53Yes.
11:54That's it.
11:54I mean, I give up.
11:55What are the other two?
11:58We would have been here all day.
12:01Such an Asiago get real.
12:02But now you say that, I do taste an Asiago on here.
12:04Six cheeses, I don't think it's worth it.
12:06This is the Veggie Volcano.
12:07It's a veggie-friendly one.
12:08If you're vegetarian and you like spice,
12:10then I guess this is the one for you.
12:12Charlie is vegetarian, and he's had this before,
12:14and he said it was pretty spicy.
12:15I'm gonna try it.
12:16I'm gonna make sure I get some jalapenos.
12:19I'm not gonna get anything from that, man.
12:20For me, that's a bit disappointing.
12:21Again, you name it Volcano,
12:23you're expecting molten lava, loads of spice,
12:26but all you're really getting
12:26is a little bit of heat from the jalapenos.
12:28You can also get these specialty pizzas.
12:30I'm not getting all of them, folks.
12:31I tried pretty much all of those American pizzas
12:33on Foreign Exchange,
12:34and broadly was just not impressed at all.
12:36I actually think I much prefer UK Domino's on the whole.
12:38I think my Domino's thoughts
12:39have actually remained pretty consistent
12:40over the past few years.
12:41I still don't like it when they try and do too much
12:43with a pizza in terms of toppings.
12:45I do think three, maybe four,
12:46is like the sweet spot for pizza toppings.
12:48I still hate barbecue sauce as the base.
12:49The one pizza that maybe slightly changed my mind
12:51and breaks my rules would be the cheeseburger pizza.
12:53I honestly think, I feel like I've done this,
12:56what, at least five times,
12:57and earlier on I was like, man, all this stuff is terrible.
13:00But either they've changed the recipes or I'm changing.
13:04I'm actually pleasantly surprised by all this.
13:07I think there's something for everyone here
13:08except the vegetarian.
13:10We have plant-based pizzas here in the UK.
13:12We have a few options, including the American Hot,
13:15a Chicken Winner, a Pepperoni,
13:17a Margaritastic, and a Veggie Supreme.
13:20This one is the American Hot.
13:21It's tomato sauce with vegan cheese,
13:23a plant-based pepperoni, jalapenos, and red onions.
13:26Can you see that the colors kind of like bled
13:28from the pepperoni into the cheese?
13:29That's interesting.
13:32If you just told me that was really cheap,
13:34really bad quality pepperoni,
13:36I might believe you, actually.
13:37They've got a tiny bit of heat going on there.
13:42That's actually okay.
13:43As far as plant-based pizzas go,
13:45they've done a decent job
13:46at recreating a fast food plant-based pizza.
13:48Now, UK and everyone else in the world,
13:50we have sandwiches here at our Domino's.
13:54My rundown on this is that someone looked in
13:56and was like, we got the ingredients and we have the ovens.
13:58What else can we put on the menu
14:00that literally is the lowest lift possible?
14:03I guess I gotta get this bread or whatever,
14:04but for the most part,
14:06I don't understand why a person would walk into a Domino's
14:11or go to a Domino's and be like,
14:13yes, I'm getting a sandwich.
14:14Anyone watching, if you prioritize the sandwich
14:17over the pizza at Domino's, please tell me why.
14:19So you can get all these sandwiches,
14:21let's get them up on there,
14:22which are pretty much reinterpretations
14:24of various specialty pizzas.
14:27The two that I got to show off today are,
14:29what did I get?
14:30I actually forgot.
14:31I think this is the chicken parm, yeah?
14:33Yes, the chicken parm sandwich.
14:35For those of you outside of America,
14:37and there are those of you inside America,
14:39will be interested to know that chicken parm,
14:41chicken parmesan and chicken parm sandwiches
14:43are actually distinctly American thing.
14:45I don't think they have chicken parm sandwiches in Italy.
14:48I'd be surprised that we might've re-exported it.
14:50People outside of America watching Sopranos
14:52being like, chicken what?
14:54It's chicken breast baked and added
14:57with parmesan baked into it.
14:59I don't know exactly what it is,
15:01but we have it in sandwich form.
15:03Look, if it sounds like I'm dissing it,
15:05I want to make it perfectly clear.
15:06I absolutely love a chicken parm sandwich,
15:08especially in the New York, New Jersey area.
15:09It's absolutely fantastic.
15:11But much like Philly cheesesteaks are native to Philly,
15:13the chicken parm outside of the Jersey, New York area,
15:19especially at the Domino's level, what are you guys doing?
15:22I'm curious on what this is like.
15:24Let's give it a bite.
15:27Yeah, no.
15:29Look me in the eyes.
15:30If you're scrolling through the comments,
15:31scroll up and look me in the eyes.
15:32If you're looking for another video to watch, stop.
15:34Everyone look at me right now.
15:36Turn off the music.
15:38A chicken parm sandwich is supposed to be like a thick,
15:41thick cutlet of chicken,
15:44just with the parm just baked into it,
15:47just dripping with amazing sauce.
15:49You know what?
15:50Go ahead and Google image search chicken parm sandwich
15:53if you don't mind you.
15:54That's what that should look like.
15:55I don't know who they're fooling with this.
15:58All right, Domino's, stop this.
16:00Nobody wants this.
16:01There's nothing close to chicken parm sandwich.
16:03I don't know what you're doing with this.
16:04I hate it.
16:05Stop it.
16:06Speaking of Italians, I may be wrong when I say this.
16:08What Italian dish has banana peppers in it?
16:12Banana peppers are not Italian.
16:13No way.
16:14I was over there for a few weeks, whatever, I go to Italy,
16:17and I didn't see one banana pepper in the entire country.
16:21How is this even a thing?
16:23What do we do?
16:24Ham, I mean, yeah, there's ham in Italy,
16:26but there's ham everywhere.
16:27And banana peppers?
16:28What are you guys talking about?
16:29Is this like, you don't have giardiniera,
16:31so you're like, we'll just use banana peppers.
16:33Are peppers in giardiniera like this?
16:34Come on, guys.
16:35This sucks.
16:36These sandwiches, in my opinion,
16:38are pretty redundant and unnecessary,
16:40so I say skip them.
16:41UK Domino's does not have sandwiches,
16:43but we do have wraps.
16:44I have never tried one of these before.
16:45I think they must be relatively new to the menu.
16:48I can't quite tell what this is.
16:49I can't tell if it's pizza dough,
16:51if it's a tortilla wrap.
16:52This one is the pepperoni passion one.
16:55I think they could go heavier on the sauce with these.
16:58That's quite dry.
16:58It's very cheesy.
16:59And now that the cheese is cooled, it's quite dense.
17:01I'm also just like, wondering who would buy these.
17:04This one is the chicken and bacon wrap.
17:06To continue with Domino's absolute blitz
17:09on Italian culture, we have pastas.
17:12You can get four different versions of it.
17:14There's a five-cheese spicy buffalo,
17:16chicken alfredo Italian sausage.
17:18I went ahead with the chicken alfredo,
17:20and I think this is the spicy buffalo.
17:24That I hate.
17:25Somehow, penny noodles with buffalo and cheese sauce
17:28equals Italy.
17:30Absolute madness.
17:32Ugh.
17:33Now, if I had to choose,
17:34I'd still pick the sandwiches over this.
17:35These pastas are unforgivably bad.
17:38I know I ragged on the sandwiches,
17:40I think they're unnecessary,
17:40but at least the sandwiches, like bread, meat, and cheese,
17:44just in a way,
17:46just in a weird distribution form and somewhat flavorless.
17:48This, I feel like, I feel like I had more than a bite of this
17:52and it'd make me sick.
17:53Breads, bread twist, dips.
17:56Hey, yo.
17:58Huh.
17:59Now we're at the part of the menu where, for some reason,
18:02this pizza organization, Domino's,
18:05decided what if we just took pizza
18:07and like did it in a different order?
18:09Right here, we have stuffed breads.
18:12What's that, you ask?
18:14I guess it's a calzone, only not really.
18:17They put all the pizza stuff
18:18that normally goes on top of the bread and put it inside.
18:21This is what it looks like.
18:22It's like a loaf of bread.
18:23This could have been like a flat bread or something instead.
18:25Everything's on the inside, so.
18:27Who in your organization said, let's do this?
18:30All right, let's taste that.
18:33You know what that tastes like?
18:35A pepperoni pizza.
18:36Yeah, imagine that.
18:38Just do that.
18:39We also got this dripping loaf of oil.
18:45Look at this thing.
18:46Look at this, look at this.
18:47Like if I was stranded on a desert island,
18:48I wouldn't eat this.
18:49I'd use it to reflect the sun, to get planes to rescue me.
18:55It's a spinach and feta one, a bacon jalapeno one.
18:58Skip it.
19:00Got Parmesan bread bites.
19:02It says what's on the tin.
19:04Bread, Parmesan cheese.
19:06This stuff really sets me off, I'm sorry.
19:08Sick of pizza coming all together?
19:10Great news, Domino's sells you bread
19:13and dishes of cheese and sauce.
19:15So I guess make the pizza in your stomach.
19:18So there you have pizza with no bread.
19:20And great news, there's a selling nuts
19:22that is bread with no pizza.
19:25So you can finally, oh finally, look at this.
19:28Put, oh wow, I just invented something new.
19:30What did you get?
19:31Check this out, it's bread, right?
19:32Okay, okay, hang on, bread.
19:33But what I do is on top of it,
19:35I'm putting marinara sauce and melted mozzarella cheese.
19:38What will I name this invention?
19:40Oh.
19:42Hooray, I got to assemble my own cheese pizza.
19:44What is the point of this?
19:45What is the point of this?
19:47There are a ton of sides on the menu at UK Domino's.
19:49Firstly, we have these twisted dough balls,
19:51often served with a dip like a garlic butter
19:54or something like that.
19:54They add toppings inside them before rolling them up.
19:57So for example, this one has pepperoni inside.
19:59And these ones just have cheese on the inside.
20:01We have a bunch of fries on the menu.
20:03These are the pepperoni passion fries.
20:04And then here we have the loaded cheeseburger fries.
20:07Pretty much the same toppings as the cheeseburger pizza,
20:09but you don't get the burger sauce,
20:10which I actually really liked.
20:11Then we can also get potato wedges.
20:13And these ones are topped with cheese.
20:14On to the sides, we have loaded tots.
20:18And you get three different tot options.
20:20I went the Philly cheesesteak version,
20:21because why not?
20:22They dumped what goes on a Philly cheesesteak pizza
20:26or a Philly cheesesteak sandwich, put it on potato tots.
20:29I don't know why either.
20:31Someone's got to be getting them.
20:32We have a few different chicken options.
20:34Obviously we can get wings, as we discussed earlier,
20:36but we also have chicken strippers
20:38as well as chicken kickers.
20:39Chicken strippers are more like chicken tenders,
20:42whereas chicken kickers are more like chicken nuggets.
20:44The kick part also refers to the fact
20:45that they come with a slightly spicy breading.
20:47You can get the strippers or the kickers individually,
20:49but I got them together in this chicken mix box.
20:51I actually quite like the packaging.
20:53It comes with these dips built into it.
20:54The chicken mix box also comes with wings.
20:56We also have plant-based nuggets on the menu.
20:58They look okay, actually.
20:59The breading looks pretty heavily seasoned.
21:02These aren't too bad.
21:03The texture of the fake meat is a bit spongy, a bit chewy,
21:06but the breading is pretty good.
21:07It's well-seasoned.
21:08Definitely got like a kind of
21:09Southern fried chicken feel to it.
21:11Then finally, we have coleslaw.
21:12Specialty chicken instead of tots,
21:14we do it with big chunks of chicken.
21:16I guess they could be sort of considered nuggets,
21:18but maybe not.
21:19This sauce pooling in front of here means one thing.
21:22It is the classic hot buffalo.
21:24Let's try one.
21:25Yeah, they really bread their chicken.
21:28I think they're trying to hide the fact
21:29that the chicken's not the best quality
21:31with this breading the crap out of it.
21:35Now we got boneless wings here.
21:36I don't know why you don't like bones.
21:38Basically, you want nuggets
21:39that are shaped like chicken bones.
21:40Great, we got it.
21:41I think there's about four different wing varieties
21:44you can get exclusively here at Our Domino's.
21:47First up, the garlic Parmesan.
21:49Come on with this, guys.
21:51I understand for efficiency, they don't toss it in sauce.
21:53There's like squirt the sauce on it.
21:55And maybe in theory,
21:56it's the same amount of sauce distribution,
21:59but this looks horrible.
22:01I like garlic Parmesan things,
22:02but this looks like frosting.
22:05All right.
22:08It has a garlicky flavor to it.
22:09Sweet mango habanero.
22:11There's something about not tossing the sauce,
22:14like dumping the sauce on it.
22:16It sounds so trivial, but it does taste different.
22:18It doesn't taste like the wings are really flavored.
22:22It just tastes like it's dripping
22:25with some weird gooey sauce.
22:26I don't...
22:30Definitely got a habanero kick, whoa!
22:32Look, pizza and wings usually go together,
22:34so if you're getting some Domino's pizza
22:36and you wanna get wings, the wings are perfectly fine.
22:37I would go for just the regular Buffalo hot ones,
22:39the specialty ones.
22:41I'm not too convinced with the sauce
22:42that it's anything special, personally, so, yeah.
22:44And that brings us to Sauce Talk.
22:46Sauce Talk.
22:48Obviously, the classic one
22:49is their standard garlic and herb dip.
22:50This is the one that comes by default
22:52with all the pizzas in the UK.
22:53I can't lie, it's absolutely fantastic.
22:55They also have a plant-based version of it.
22:57I don't know if I've tried the plant-based one before.
22:59Broadly recreated the flavor,
23:01but it tastes like plasticky to me.
23:03Hot Buffalo, love it.
23:05Domino's in the UK also sells Frank's Red Hot Sauce.
23:07It's not my favorite hot sauce.
23:08The sweet mango habanero, just had this.
23:11Spicier than it looks, folks, spicier than it looks.
23:13Here we have a tangy salsa dip.
23:15We actually have nachos as a side option in the UK,
23:18so I think this is maybe targeted
23:19more for use with the nachos.
23:21Ranch, I'm beginning to think that the UK,
23:22you guys do have ranch or a version of ranch.
23:25You just probably think your ranch is wrong
23:26because you're not crazy about it
23:28like we're here in the US.
23:29Here we have a honey mustard dip.
23:31Then finally, we have a sweet icing dip.
23:33I actually do quite like it.
23:34And finally, blue cheese.
23:36Then we're on to the desserts.
23:37Here we have double choc and caramel cookies,
23:39and these ones are the classic Domino's choc chip cookies.
23:42It looks like there's a hole
23:43where the caramel sauce should be,
23:44and they've forgotten to add it with these ones.
23:46Hey, there you go.
23:47That's what they're supposed to look like.
23:50I'm into these.
23:51Chocolate and caramel, I mean,
23:52doesn't get much better than that.
23:53In the UK, if you're eating a choc chip cookie,
23:55it's much more likely to be quite hard.
23:57It kind of snaps when you bite into it,
23:58but these ones, much gooier, squishy, indulgent.
24:02Desserts, who doesn't want chocolate
24:04with a follow-up with their gorging of pizza
24:07and bread stuffed with pepperoni and cheese?
24:09You saw nuts before.
24:10We also have cinnamon bread nuts right here.
24:12Take a look at this.
24:13I have to say, they were generous with the cinnamon.
24:19This makes sense.
24:19This twist makes sense.
24:21Have the icing separate so it's not soaked in there.
24:24Tasty, but it was even better hot.
24:26Here we have twisted dough balls.
24:27Here we have the Oreo twisted dough balls,
24:29and these are the chocolate cinnamon twisted dough balls.
24:32This next thing is a marble cookie brownie.
24:37Is this distinctly a Domino's thing,
24:40this idea of a brownie with a chocolate chip cookie
24:43inside of it?
24:44I've never seen this outside of Domino's,
24:45but forgive me if this is known elsewhere in the world,
24:47and I'm just finding out about it now.
24:49So I love brownies and I love chocolate chip cookies,
24:51so together at last?
24:55Personally, I would just go with the brownie.
24:57I don't think chocolate chip cookies
24:58would be adding anything.
24:59If you want brownies after your pizza, get these.
25:01They're good.
25:02And then lastly, we have cinny dippers.
25:03These are covered in cinnamon sugar.
25:04It's the same dough that they're using
25:05for pretty much everything else,
25:07but in this case, it's made into this kind of
25:08tear-and-share disc.
25:10The cinny dippers are also the dessert
25:11that comes with the sweet icing dip.
25:14The dough is maybe a little dense,
25:16but honestly, anything that's covered in cinnamon sugar,
25:18I'm gonna eat.
25:18That's been a lace.
25:20Chocolate, lava, crunch cake.
25:22How gooey is it gonna be?
25:24The fact I can hold them tells you they're not that hot.
25:27Save room for the dessert with Domino's.
25:28These are all right.
25:29Oh God, I've eaten too much.
25:31Sadly, across the last four years,
25:32items have come and gone from the menus
25:33in both the US and the UK.
25:35It's time to pay tribute to some of the ones we've lost.
25:38Back in 2020, Domino's pizza dough
25:50contained six ingredients.
25:51In 2024, however, that list has gone up to 15.
25:54Compared to that previous list,
25:55we've added cornmeal, sugar, salt, whey powder,
25:59and the flour improvers ascorbic acid,
26:01L-cysteine hydrochloride, and the emulsifier E481.
26:04It's also unspecified if our flour was previously fortified.
26:07Hey, since the beginning of this show,
26:10the Brits have criticized the US
26:12for overloading our food with chemicals.
26:15How's it feel now, UK?
26:17Oy!
26:17Back in 2020, our pizza dough had all of this stuff.
26:21And in 2024, our tossed dough looks
26:25to have the same exact stuff,
26:26except no calcium sulfite or calcium phosphates.
26:30Calcium sulfate is a dough conditioner,
26:33along with other dough conditioners,
26:34and calcium phosphate can be used
26:37for anti-caking and dough strengthening.
26:40It does appear to still be in the thin crust version
26:43in monocalcium form.
26:45The pepperoni we use in the UK
26:46comes from more than one supplier,
26:48so there are two potential ingredients lists.
26:50In the US, our pepperoni contains all this.
26:52It's relatively the same,
26:53except our pepperoni contains beef.
26:55Back in the last episode,
26:56we discovered that the US pepperoni contained BHA and BHT.
27:00Those chemicals are restricted in the UK
27:02and cannot be added to our pepperoni.
27:03Perhaps it's because studies have shown
27:05those chemicals can cause tumors in rats.
27:08Where's my boy?
27:11Thankfully, Domino's has since removed BHA and BHT
27:14from all of its core products.
27:15Food War is looking out for the consumers.
27:16Ah, dang, we forgot to add BHA and BHT to our in memoriam.
27:20One popular ingredient that differs
27:21in the two countries is bacon.
27:22Here in the UK, we use smoked bacon
27:24as a topping on some of our pizzas.
27:26Whereas ours is just regular or unsmoked bacon.
27:29I have had smoked bacon before,
27:31and I think for pizza, I prefer unsmoked.
27:34UK Domino's prices are a bit hard to pin down
27:36because Domino's is always,
27:37and I mean always, running a load of promotions.
27:40I've said it before, and I'll say it again.
27:41No one pays full price for Domino's in the UK.
27:44If you do, you're getting ripped off.
27:46The UK Domino's website, for example,
27:47automatically applies deals using a deal wizard.
27:50You technically can turn this off if you want to,
27:52but why would you?
27:53This is the first time I've noticed this,
27:54but it looks like where I'm at in the country,
27:56we also have like 20 deals or coupons on the site.
27:59I feel like Domino's is going the Kohl's route,
28:02by just marking everything up to miraculously have a deal
28:04while we're shopping there.
28:06For example, when me and the lads are cracking on
28:09and want to get some Scran,
28:10I'm sorry, Joe wrote this part of the script.
28:12In the UK, we have a deal that lets you get
28:14any large pizza for 12 pounds.
28:16Here in the US, that would be a large specialty pizza,
28:19and it would cost $18.99,
28:21but without the coupon, it'd be $22.99.
28:26They do this for a few reasons.
28:27Firstly, everyone loves the feeling of getting a bargain.
28:29Secondly, pizzas can actually be a loss leader for Domino's.
28:33A loss leader is a product that a company
28:34deliberately sells either at a small loss
28:36or a very small profit,
28:37just in order to get people through the door.
28:39Domino's might not be making loads of money
28:41on a 12 pound large pizza,
28:42but while you're there, you might get a garlic bread
28:44or a bottle of Coke,
28:45and these things have much higher profit margins
28:46for Domino's.
28:47But how has Domino's fared recently with consumers
28:49feeling the effect of inflation fatigue
28:51and a general cost of living rise?
28:52In the US, not so great.
28:55Domino's fell short in Q3 of 2024,
28:58with same store sales missing expectations.
29:00Foot traffic has also slowed.
29:02Now, it's fair to say other fast food chains
29:04like KFC and Pizza Hut
29:05have also seen same store sales decline this year.
29:08Domino's over the past few years
29:10have invested a lot in automation.
29:12In 2022, it opened a $50 million facility in Indiana
29:15that focused on automated dough production,
29:18as well as making various warehouse and delivery roles
29:21less taxing and improving efficiency.
29:23Domino's are still doing well in the UK.
29:24They're number one in terms of delivery pizzas,
29:26so I'm sure they're not feeling
29:27the loss of my custom too much.
29:29My college town had a Domino's,
29:31and that's where we just got pizza from a lot.
29:33That brand integration,
29:36or them getting to me at an early age,
29:37I just, Domino's was my shorthand for, like, fast pizza,
29:40but I hadn't gotten it for years
29:42just because I lived in cities with much better pizza.
29:44Back when I was a student
29:45and when I was living with some friends in London,
29:47it would probably be, like, every two weeks,
29:49maybe every month type of thing for Domino's in the house.
29:52Doing the show, though,
29:53like, I actually don't like Domino's as much as I used to.
29:56I feel like it's, like, just all the other sides and stuff
29:58and all the weird things that they do,
30:00I'm just not that into it anymore.
30:01Now I couldn't really tell you
30:02the last time I actually chose to order Domino's
30:04for myself just on a random night.
30:06I don't have much of a sweet tooth,
30:07and I never get desserts.
30:08Me, pizza place, like, give me a pizza.
30:10I don't get anything else.
30:11But yeah, the desserts are pretty nice.
30:12I'm not going to get them, but I like them.
30:15Domino's has surprised me a few times over the years,
30:17and I think the dessert options
30:18have kind of grown on me over the years as well,
30:20partly just because they are really tasty,
30:22but also I think you need something a little bit sweet
30:23when you're having something
30:24so salty and so savory like a pizza.
