Learn how to make "Millet Burger" or "Bajra Burger" at home with our Chef Ruchi

This millet (bajra) burger recipe offers a wholesome twist on a classic favorite, featuring a hearty patty made from nutritious millet (bajra) grains, combined with flavorful herbs and spices, perfect for a satisfying plant-based meal. Also, providing a rich source of essential nutrients like fiber, protein, vitamins, and minerals, contributing to overall health and well-being.

Ingredients:
1½ tbsp Oil
1 Onion (chopped)
1 cup Corn (slightly crushed)
1 tbsp Ginger Chilli Paste
Prepared Herb Mixture
1 cup Basil Leaves
½ cup Coriander Leaves
4-5 Garlic Cloves (coarsely ground)
turn of the flame & cool it
¾ cup Foxtail Millet (soaked)
½ cup Bread Crumbs
Salt (as per taste)
Black Pepper (as per taste)
1 tbsp Corn flour
1 tbsp Dried Oregano
1 Potato (boiled & grated)
Oil (for cooking)
1 cup Mayonnaise
3 tbsp Cabbage (chopped)
1 Carrot (chopped)
Salt (as per taste)
½ tsp Chilli Flakes
refrigerate it to chill
3 tbsp Ketchup
1½ tbsp Chilli Sauce
1 tbsp Mustard Sauce
2 Burger Buns (cut into half)
Lettuce Leaves
Onion Slices
Tomato Slices
Salt (for sprinkling)
Black Pepper (for sprinkling)

00:00Burgers are everybody's favourite.
00:02And today, I'm going to show you a very interesting homemade version with Millets.
00:06So let's see how to make Millet Burger.
00:09As the name suggests, the patty is going to be made with Millets.
00:13So I've taken about 3-4th cup of Foxtail Millets.
00:16Soaked it for about half an hour.
00:19And then boiled it in about 1-1.5 cups of water.
00:22Drained it out completely and cooled it down.
00:25And this is what I get after that.
00:27I'm going to flavour these patties with some Herb mix as well as Corn.
00:32So in a pan, I'm going to saute few ingredients.
00:35Let's turn on the flame.
00:37Heat 1-1.5 tbsp of Oil.
00:39Add in 1 Onion finely chopped.
00:421 cup Corn, which I've slightly crushed.
00:45Saute this for about 2-3 minutes.
00:49A tbsp of Ginger-Chilli paste.
00:52This Herb mixture that I've made.
00:54I've coarsely ground 1 cup of Basil Leaves.
00:571 cup of Coriander Leaves.
00:58And 4-5 Garlic Cloves.
01:02Saute this for a few seconds.
01:04Turn off the flame.
01:05And cool this mixture down completely.
01:08And now let's add in a few more ingredients.
01:11Boiled Millets, you can even take Quinoa instead,
01:13that goes very well in this recipe.
01:151 cup Breadcrumbs.
01:17Salt to taste.
01:20Pepper to taste.
01:21A tbsp of Cornflour.
01:231 tbsp Oregano.
01:261 big Potato, boiled and grated.
01:28Mix all these ingredients properly.
01:30And try and mash everything and bind everything together.
01:35Combine everything to make a dough like mixture.
01:39Now let's start making a patty.
01:42Roll the edges on a plate.
01:47In this way, shape all the patties.
01:51Time to roast these patties.
01:53Heat a pan.
01:54Drizzle some Oil.
01:57Once the oil is hot, place the patties.
02:03Let's flip the patties.
02:07While the patties are roasting, let's quickly make the Mayo spread.
02:11I have 1 cup of Mayonnaise here.
02:13Add in 3 tbsp of finely chopped Cabbage.
02:16Add in 1 Carrot, finely chopped.
02:19Salt to taste.
02:201 tsp of Chilli Flakes.
02:22Mix all these ingredients together.
02:25Chill the spread till you're ready to use.
02:30For the Ketchup spread, take 3 tbsp of Ketchup.
02:34Add in 1 1⁄2 tbsp of Chilli Sauce.
02:37A tbsp of Mustard Sauce.
02:39Mix all these ingredients together.
02:42And keep this aside.
02:44These are roasted, let's get them out.
02:47Be very careful while you're flipping these patties,
02:50Because they can break very easily.
02:52So very gently handle them.
02:54I have 2 Burger Buns over here,
02:57That I've cut into half and slightly buttered and roasted them.
03:00Over this, I'm going to spread the Ketchup mix.
03:04Generously spread it.
03:06Place a Lettuce Leaf.
03:08Let's place an Onion Slice.
03:11Tomato Slice.
03:14Sprinkle a pinch of Salt.
03:17Pepper.
03:18Let's place the Burger Patty.
03:21Generously spread the Mayo mixture so that the Burger doesn't taste dry.
03:26Cover it with the other half of the Burger.
03:30And place a Toothpick to lock everything together.
03:35You saw how easy this was.
03:37There's a blast of flavours and it's full of protein.
