00:00Bristol's music scene thrives on collaboration and innovation and it's always been a key focus of Big Team to support grassroots and underrepresented artists and creative in the city.
00:09We've had an exciting project launch recently in collaboration with the Bristol Beacon. Tell me about that.
00:15Yes, so this is the fourth year of our artists development programme at Big Team in partnership with Bristol Beacon to springboard emerging artists in Bristol who are ready to take their careers to the next steps.
00:31It's a very exciting time. We're kind of evolving this project over an 18 month period, which will kind of help the artists to become independent and sort of encourage community building and growth alongside really big industry partners such as Team Love, Love Saves the Day, Pirate Studios.
00:52We've got Hey What on the design out of hand doing the out of home sort of promotion and also various other projects and partners that are involved in it. So yeah, it's a really exciting time.
01:05So tell me a little bit more about the project. How can people get involved? What is the aim of the project?
01:12Yes, so the project's aim is to basically support artists to become independent and to also have intergenerational community and collaboration.
01:24Is there barriers for young people in terms of getting into the music industry that perhaps has prompted you to start this project?
01:35Yeah, definitely. So there is definitely a barrier to accessing studio spaces, industry advice, knowledge and general access to festival performances and event performances.
01:47So the intention for the project is to kind of remove some of those barriers and support artists to make those connections in the industry so that they can progress their own careers.
