Katy Perry could really hear her fans 'Roar' last night ... probably screaming out in horrible pain -- 'cause one of them touched a transformer and ended up on fire, and nearly disfigured the pop star's face with sparks.

00:00Jimmy Kimmel's studio is a hotbed for not only paparazzi getting his guests, but also autograph seekers are out there every night
00:10Trying to get whoever his guests are, there's an alley behind the studio there in Hollywood
00:16Katy Perry was the guest last night, and as you would imagine, lots of autograph seekers
00:22And she obliged, got out to sign some autographs
00:26But where a lot of the autograph seekers are reaching over to get to her is kind of a very precarious place
00:35I didn't know how dangerous it was until last night
00:38There's a fence there that they have to reach over, there's some barbed wire that they have to reach through
00:44And apparently there's a transformer there as well, because last night as Katy was signing, suddenly everyone had to run for cover when this thing blew up
00:55Randy, give me the item, give me the item
00:57This is just the top one
01:00Give me the item
01:01This is just the top one
01:06That is wild
01:07How does this even happen, because you can see the woman, the fan or autograph seeker, you see her arm literally caught on fire
01:16Look how quickly security immediately got Katy away, they didn't even know what it was at that point I'm sure
01:21There you go
01:22But you can see, this woman, her jacket actually caught on fire
01:26We know that she got down and that people were able to put out the fire on her coat, so she was okay
01:33She is lucky to be alive though, with that type of spark that flew out of there, I cannot believe she wasn't electrocuted
01:39And the funny thing is, well not funny, but ironically, she is in Los Angeles for the Fire Aid Benefit Concert
01:44That's right
01:45That's where she is performing, and then gets almost burned by these sparks in the alleyway behind Jimmy Kimmel, that is so random
01:50And when you watch that video, that's scary, that thing blew up right near her face, that's terrifying
01:55Yeah, it is, obviously, I would imagine there are going to be some changes as far as security out there and where they are letting people
02:04And that's by the way, not on Kimmel's people at all, because that's in an alley that's not part of their jurisdiction
02:12Well that one looks like it's almost looking over to the parking lot
02:15Sometimes they're in the alleyway where they've got a barrier, and the celebs will walk down the alleyway and sign autographs
02:21This almost looks like it's in the private parking lot area where they shouldn't be crawling over
02:27Yeah, there's barbed wire on top of that fence to discourage people from getting up there and leaning against the transformer
02:31That's part of why that's there, so if fans are going to climb up, that's on them
02:35Yeah, they're doing it at their own risk, and something like this could happen
02:39But thankfully, no one was seriously injured, people got their autographs, Katie got away
02:45She actually went back to signing too, so after that happened, and they kind of rushed her away, brought her back, she continued to sign
02:53Always good
02:55From the safety of her car, I'm not going over there again
02:58This is Sam from New Jersey, when I saw that video I was definitely a little bit shocked, no pun intended
03:03I'm glad everyone is okay, it goes to show that fans really don't really are aware of their surroundings when it comes to meeting their favorite celebrities
03:11Maybe they're just very distracted, but again, I'm very glad everyone was safe, and Katie's doing okay
03:17Yeah, I know those autographs can be valuable, and that's why the autograph seekers are out there to get it, but, you know
03:23Not to risk your life for it
03:25Yeah, there's got to be a line somewhere
03:33You
