00:00The committee level of the Camara approved the 200 pesos minimum daily wage hike for the employees of the private sector.

00:10This was appreciated by some labor groups, but a group of employers is already complaining.

00:28Let us start the new year with much abundance and prosperity.

00:32The House Committee on Labor and Employment has approved the 200 pesos minimum wage hike for the employees of the private sector in the country.

00:43Under the passed substitute bill entitled 200 pesos daily across the board wage increase act,

00:50all private employers, whether agricultural or non-agricultural,

00:55and even some of their employees are allowed to carry out the 200 pesos daily minimum wage hike.

01:02If it is passed into law, any person, corporation, or company that violates these provisions may be fined or jailed.

01:11What we did here is a serious discussion and study so that we can make a decision that the 200 pesos wage increase is appropriate for the workers.

01:21Some labor groups were upset by the passing of the bill to the House panel, especially since they have been fighting it for a long time.

01:29We are happy that it became 200 pesos from the proposal of 150 pesos.

01:34It is a big help to the workers, especially since the prices are increasing.

01:40Any additional wage increase in the wages of the workers is a big help in increasing their purchasing power.

01:52But this was saddened by a group of employers.

01:57As you know, when the minimum wage increases, there is no connection to the business of the companies, especially the small ones.

02:07This is a revenge. They will increase their prices if the market can afford it.

02:13Or they will reduce the number of people. Or if they really can't do that, they will just close down.

02:19House Speaker Martin Romualdez is certain that they will balance the situation.

02:24They have already considered mechanisms to help micro, small, and medium enterprises.

02:31Senate President Francis Escudero said that they are open to help the Camera on this issue.
