Tensions ran high during the hostage release by Hamas, former Israeli Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Intelligence Dan Meridor says.

00:00There were some pretty chaotic scenes, just judging from the video footage we saw.
00:06They came from southern Gaza, in the city of Khan Yunus,
00:09during the process of releasing some of these hostages.
00:12I gather two Israelis and five Thai nationals were in that particular batch.
00:19Why was everything so chaotic there?
00:21I genuinely don't know.
00:23It's quite frightening, I have to say.
00:25I think of the hostages being brought by the Hamas or Islamic Jihad people, I don't know.
00:31And I think when they see the multitudes of people around them shouting and threatening,
00:37it should have been quite terrible for them.
00:41I don't know why it was that chaotic.
00:44But once they got to the Red Cross people, then to the Israelis' side, it was okay.
00:50It was quite tense.
00:52The tension was quite high when I watched this on television.
00:56Quite frightening, I have to say.
