00:00And some of the most popular names in music
00:01are up for several awards.
00:03Yeah, it's said to be a showdown
00:05on music's biggest night.
00:08This ain't Texas, ain't no holding.
00:12Well, Beyonce leads the way with 11 nominations,
00:15but she's never won Album of the Year.
00:17Can you believe that?
00:17It could be tough this year, though,
00:19with competition from Sabrina Carpenter, Charli XCX,
00:22Billie Eilish, and Chaplerone, just to name a few.
00:25So, Reed, joining us right now is Erin Axelson,
00:28on-air personality from Live 105.
00:30Hey, good morning.
00:31Okay, how are you?
00:32Thanks for hanging out with us.
00:33And are you gearing up for the awards show?
00:36Yeah, I'm excited.
00:37I'm excited that we have a couple of Bay Area artists
00:40in the mix, Metallica and Green Day.
00:42So that's great.
00:44And Erin, you know, we love radio people.
00:46Gianna and I both started off in radio.
00:48So you were among friends here.
00:51What do you think Beyonce has never won this award?
00:54And do you think she's got the wind at her back this time?
00:58I think so.
00:58I mean, she's just had a phenomenal year
01:01and so multifaceted with the country album and pop,
01:05and she can just do it all.
01:06So I think this is a good chance for her.
01:09But think about in the history of the Grammys,
01:10there's a lot of iconic artists that have never won.
01:13I mean, think about Bob Marley, Kiss,
01:17the Ramones, Journey, Beach Boys.
01:20So you never know how it's gonna pan out,
01:23but I think she has a good chance this year.
01:25That's actually a very good point.
01:26You're right, there are some pretty big artists
01:28who have never walked away
01:29with one of those coveted trophies.
01:30So let's talk about some of our Bay Area peeps
01:33that are gonna be there.
01:34We've got Metallica up for a few awards.
01:35We've got Green Day as well.
01:37How are their chances looking?
01:39I think they both, I mean,
01:41Metallica are just titans of their category,
01:44titans of heavy metal,
01:47and they're such massive icons in their world,
01:49and they constantly reinvent themselves.
01:51I think they have a really good chance.
01:53And Green Day up for what, three nominations, I think?
01:56I mean, it's just incredible to see what they've done
01:59from humble beginnings at Pinole Valley,
02:02at Pinole High School in East Bay.
02:04And I used to go see Green Day play
02:06at a punk club called Gilman Street in Berkeley
02:09when I was a young East Bay punk rocker.
02:11So it's been really exciting to see them transcend,
02:14and 14 albums out now,
02:16and they have 13 number one songs at Alternative Radio,
02:20which is just incredible to see what they've done
02:24and their storied history as well.
02:27And it's great, they're still a Bay Area band.
02:29They've never left.
02:30They're still in the East Bay,
02:30which I just love that about them.
02:32They're homegrown and determined to stay that way.
02:34And we saw them in that benefit concert
02:36helping the people who are ravaged by LA wildfires.
02:39It's also really important, I think, to mention
02:40that there's gonna be some tributes and performances planned
02:43to help raise money for those wildfire victims.
02:46It was pretty incredible last night.
02:47They performed in LA,
02:48and Billie Eilish joined them on stage
02:51and did a Green Day song last night on Earth.
02:54It was goosebumps.
02:56Pretty special to see that.
02:58It is.
02:59It's been so good to see so many people come together.
03:00Aaron, it's good to see you.
03:02Thanks for stopping by and hanging out with us.
03:03And hey, when can Reed come over
03:05and work the board with you for one of your shows?
03:08I remember.
