00:00I'm Helen Castle, I'm head teacher at Manor Infant and Nursery School.
00:03Brilliant and tell me what we're doing here today.
00:05So today we've invited our young MPs and local community, our governors and local councillors
00:10to come and open our library that we've been working to fundraise for for the past two years.
00:15Brilliant, how does it feel to have the library again?
00:18Oh it's wonderful, yeah before it was quite a sad space, very dark,
00:22very old carpet and nothing really for the children to sit on
00:26and so PTFA have fundraised along with our local councillors trying to get some CIL funding
00:33so that we can actually make it a much more inviting area for the children to come and sit
00:37and enjoy books with their friends and with other adults.
00:40And tell me what the reaction's been like?
00:42Oh it's just been fantastic seeing the faces of the children when the curtains dropped and
00:46they finally got to see the library because it's been closed since Christmas was just magical
00:51and it just shows the power of reading, the power of books and the joy it can bring to children.
