00:00Hi, my name is Charlotte, I'm part of the penguin team here at SeaLife Melbourne Aquarium
00:12and we are kicking off Pesto's first birthday with a party fit for a king.
00:17It's been amazing watching Pesto grow up over the last year.
00:21He's got a wonderful personality, he's gentle, he's sweet and he's integrated really well
00:25into the wider colony.
00:27Pesto's still pretty easy to spot despite the fact that he's lost that kind of iconic
00:32brown fluffy feathering.
00:34He's a big boy, he's almost as big as his dad Blake, so he stands out just because he's
00:39a little bit taller than the rest of the colony.
00:41He also has his own wing band which identifies him specifically, which I believe is black,
00:46brown and orange, so you can look out for those colours to pick him out from the crowd.
00:51Pesto's favourite foods are whiting, salmon and particularly trout when we give it to
00:56him.
00:57He hangs out all over the habitat that he lives in, but he's gotten to be quite a competent
01:01swimmer, he likes splashing around in the pool with some of the older birds.
01:04Pesto is such a social butterfly, he hangs out with all the different birds in the colony
01:08and you'll see him integrating into different groups throughout the day.
01:12He does like to hang out with his parents, he still follows them around a little bit,
01:15so he's still a little bit of a baby, but he's definitely an adventurous soul.
01:19So we've got loads of really special and exciting activities for Pesto over the weekend, we've
01:23got lots of enrichment going on for him, additional to what we would usually do.
01:27He's a really big fan of bubbles, so we'll have lots of bubbles for him.
01:30We've made him a special ice and jelly cake that's full of fish, so once he gets stuck
01:34into that he's going to have an extra treat.
