President Donald Trump’s trade war intensifies as he prepares for crucial talks with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum. Ahead of the 25% tariffs set to take effect on Tuesday, Trump is determined to balance trade and address what he calls unfair practices by the two neighboring countries. The U.S. is grappling with significant trade deficits with both Canada and Mexico, which Trump claims have "ripped off" the U.S. for years. This aggressive move, which also includes tariffs on Chinese goods, has already sparked retaliation from both countries, with Trudeau imposing matching tariffs and Sheinbaum considering additional measures. The upcoming discussions between Trump, Trudeau, and Sheinbaum will be pivotal in determining if a resolution can be reached, or if tensions will escalate further, potentially disrupting supply chains and straining relations across North America.

00:00I'm speaking with Prime Minister Trudeau tomorrow morning and I'm also speaking with Mexico
00:05tomorrow morning and I don't expect anything very dramatic. We put tariffs on, they owe us a lot of
00:14money and I'm sure they're going to pay. They have to balance out their trade, number one.
00:20They've got to stop people from pouring into our country and we've stopped it. They haven't stopped
00:25we've stopped it. They have to stop people from pouring in and we have to stop fentanyl and that
00:30includes China. Fentanyl has killed this year at least 200,000 people. It's pouring in from China
00:39through Mexico and Canada and they've got to stop it and if they don't stop it the tariffs are going
00:44to get worse, a lot worse.
01:15So we'll be announcing the tariffs on Canada and Mexico for a number of reasons.
01:42Number one is the people that are poured into our country so horribly and so much. Number two are
01:48the drugs, fentanyl and everything else that have come into the country and number three are the
01:52massive subsidies that we're giving to Canada and to Mexico in the form of deficits and I'll be
01:59putting the tariff of 25% on Canada and separately 25% on Mexico and we will really have to do that
02:09because we have very big deficits with those countries. Those tariffs may or may not rise
02:14with time.
02:15Good evening. Today the United States informed us they will be in imposing 25% tariffs on Canadian
02:24exports to the United States and 10% on Canadian energy. A decision that should the elect to
02:31proceed with should take effect on Tuesday, February 4th. Tonight first I want to speak
02:40directly to Americans, our closest friends and neighbours. This is a choice that yes will harm
02:47Canadians but beyond that it will have real consequences for you, the American people.
02:56As I have consistently said, tariffs against Canada will put your jobs at risk, potentially
03:05shutting down American auto assembly plants and other manufacturing facilities. They will raise
03:12costs for you, including food at the grocery stores and gas at the pump. They will impede
03:19your access to an affordable supply of vital goods crucial for U.S. security such as nickel,
03:27potash, uranium, steel and aluminum. They will violate the free trade agreement that the
03:35President and I, along with our Mexican partner, negotiated and signed a few years ago.
05:05So
05:25don't miss out. Log on to OneIndia.com for more updates.
