00:00Hello, I'm Nathan Judah. I'm delighted to be joined by Wolves reporter Mr. Liam Keenley.
00:15We said that there could be one, two, three, four, five, six videos. This is, as far as
00:20deadline days go, pretty bloody exciting and we've still got eight hours left. I'm feeling
00:26very Wolves-y, feeling very Wolves-y at this moment in time. And that's because, potentially,
00:33one of the men who has epitomised Wolves' heart, Wolves' grit, Wolves' determination
00:41and Wolves' success. A good story, a great story. Conor Cody's rise, rise and rise to
00:49Wolves captain, winning the championship, going on, playing European football and then
00:55leaves. But, could he be about to make a sensational return to Molyneux? My goodness
01:02me.
01:03I tell you what, this is a remarkable story for a transfer deadline day. Wolves are in
01:09talks with Leicester over bringing Conor Cody back to Molyneux, with Craig Dawson going
01:16in the opposite direction in a swap deal. We have to stress it is very early in those
01:21conversations and there'll be plenty to do to make it a reality. But, for me, this is
01:28a deal that makes a lot of sense and I think a lot of sense for all parties, really. Let's
01:33look at it from Dawson's point of view. First of all, he's clearly not going to play under
01:38Beatle Pereira. He won't go play. He will get assurances, I'm sure, of playing at Leicester.
01:44Of course, if this deal gets done. And he can go and play football. It's also, obviously,
01:49very nearby, very close for Cody. He's also not playing at the moment. I don't think his
01:54role will be necessarily promised game time, coming back to Wolves, or consistent game
02:00time. But, it brings the fans back on board. It's a club and fan favourite, someone very
02:07highly respected and thought of at the club. And what it does is desperately improve the
02:12leadership, the culture, the atmosphere of that dressing room with someone who will walk
02:17in instantly and make a massive impact off the pitch. So, from Wolves' point of view,
02:22if they can get it over the line and if they can get it done, the hours are ticking by.
02:26I think it's a move that makes a hell of a lot of sense and I think it's one that Wolves
02:30should desperately try and do.
02:31Yeah, it would be a sensational return. It really would. And we can go into a little
02:34bit more analysis, I think, if and when that deal happens later on this afternoon, early
02:40evening because there were a lot of discussion points of why this is a good deal, why this
02:44has happened. And I think it'll be a longer video to talk about that and, of course, we'll
02:48be doing the podcast later on in the week as well. But, no, I agree with you. I mean,
02:51I think it'd be fantastic. It would give the club a lift and, you know, whether he plays
02:54or not remains to be seen. But in terms of having someone like that around the club at
02:58this moment in time when the club is struggling, absolutely, 100 per cent, completely agree.
03:03Look, we mentioned Craig Dawson as one of those ones to watch, so he could be in those
03:08discussions. And Mario Lamina, again, in the previous video, is one because of these two
03:13players coming in. And we talked about Sasha Kulajic and the squad as it is and potentially
03:18him being left off. But if these two deals do happen, it means that one more person would
03:23have to leave non-homegrown. And that looks like it potentially could be Mario Lamina,
03:28Liam?
03:29Yes. Similar to what we said in the last video where it's gone up and down, it's been a bit
03:34of a rollercoaster for Lamina. The Al-Shabaab move didn't come off, it fell through. He
03:40wasn't able to get the move before the Saudi-Arabian window closed. It then looked like he was
03:43probably going to stick around and there were plans for how he was going to integrate himself
03:47back into the team. And then Galatasaray came to the party. They made an offer initially
03:53of a loan, which wouldn't have worked because he's got six months left in his deal. There
03:58is a year option there for Wolves, but that would have meant having to take that up to
04:01make that loan possible. But they now have returned with some cash. They've made a bid
04:08of two and a half million euros, which is roughly two million pounds. It's a bit below
04:13Wolves' original valuation this month. But I think from a Wolves' point of view, considering
04:20they need to make space in the squad, considering he wants to leave, it's probably a move that
04:25they should go ahead and facilitate. And I think it's one that will probably happen now.
04:29There is still a little bit of work to do to make that reality. They don't have to rush
04:33it today either. The Turkish window is open until the 11th of February, but it's one that
04:37they're working on and there are active conversations between the two clubs. So considering he wants
04:42to move, I think for the good of the club and the dressing room, it probably is a move
04:45that they need to try and make happen.
04:47I'm sorry, Liam. You say maybe it's a bit less than what they wanted to accept. I think
04:52two and a half million pounds for someone who's got six months on his contract, who
04:55doesn't really want to be here, who's not made himself available for selection. We saw
05:00what he did against Nottingham Forest. And to bring in someone like Conor Cody to that
05:05camp in terms of his stature and his importance and why he is from a clubman and get rid of
05:09someone who doesn't want to be here. Absolutely. Take the money and run for me.
05:13Well, just over two million pounds, two and a half million euros. But yes, just to make
05:18it clear. But yeah, no, I think you're right. I think I think Wolves originally were looking
05:22at about five million pounds for him. So this does come sort of less than half.
05:26Not in that six months, though, for his age. I mean, come on, he's a young guy.
05:30Yeah, I think regardless of that valuation, I think it's probably a wise move. I'm sure
05:35Wolves will try and get a little bit more out of it. But if Galatasaray are not willing
05:38to budge and the move is there to be done, I think it's one that the club need to do.
05:43And for the players sake as well, because if he wants to go, he wants to play. He's
05:46done well for his club. It's been a really sour end to it. But, you know, allow him to
05:51get his head right and go out and do his own thing as well. It's probably the right move.
05:55It's been an interesting few days with Wolves and Galatasaray with them trying to trying
05:59to steal a defender off them as well. But Wolves have come out on the right end of that
06:03one.
06:04It's an interesting one, isn't it? We've talked about, you know, getting deals done early
06:07and sometimes it's not as easy as that, as we both know. And the fans, you know, sometimes
06:11they get frustrated. I can understand that. But it seems like Wolves have had to be patient.
06:17The Fats almost bite the lip a little bit and hopefully things come to fruition. And
06:22it feels like, touch wood, they're being rewarded for their patience. It looks like a lot of
06:29the deals that maybe weren't potentially ready to go two or three days ago have started
06:35to turn back to Wolves and I think are in Wolves' favour. And maybe they might be rewarded
06:40for their patience. So good news on that front. Potentially Mario Lamina's exit, like you
06:44say Liam, that doesn't have to be confirmed today. What does need to be confirmed today
06:48is the swap deal potentially with Connor Cody and Craig Dawson. That could be unbelievable.
06:54Of course, it might not be a swap deal. There might be one who might go. There's no guarantees
06:57on that. But like you say, it makes it makes a lot of sense for both players and both clubs
07:02at this moment in time. There's going to be plenty more updates to come. I can guarantee
07:06you that. Myself and Liam Keane will keep you updated throughout the day. We shall see
07:09you very, very soon.
