00:08was never told how she breached the ABC's social media policy when she was taken off
00:13air in December 2023. She said she'd previously discussed social media usage with Radio Sydney
00:19content director Elizabeth Green after the broadcaster received complaints. She said,
00:24Maybe keep a low profile on Twitter, and perhaps it's best not to post at all,
00:29and we continued and we agreed on parameters. She agreed that reputable sources were fine.
00:35The focus then shifted to the question of whether Ms Latouf had suffered harm from the incident.
00:40The applicant's claims that she suffers hurt and distress as a consequence of the conduct of the
00:45ABC fall to be considered against the benefits that have accrued to her as a consequence of
00:50the way in which she has courted media attention. Ms Latouf said the dismissal rendered her
00:55unemployable. I was on air talking about cats and Christmas pudding. I didn't want any of this.
01:01I have values, but I didn't want to be the face of this when this comes at such a cost.
01:07Her psychiatrist said she experienced heightened depression and anxiety.
01:11One of her social media videos was played in court.
01:15I didn't sign up to be the target of so much hate and death threats from bots and randoms.
01:27Ms Latouf told the court that she reported an abusive email to police,
01:31who have since told her that an arrest in that matter is imminent.
01:35New South Wales police confirmed that they're investigating the threat,
01:38but gave no further details. The ABC is due to begin making its case tomorrow.
