00:00With CityCabs turning 100, I went along to the Edinburgh Taxi Company to find out more about its history.
00:30Bob and 73-year-old taxi driver Alex Kemp, who's been on the roads in Edinburgh for 52 years, showed me some of the great photos they have of their time with CityCabs,
00:59and also spoke about the great family healing among the social aspect of working with the company.
01:05While I also spoke to the current Managing Director, Lewis Ray, about what the future holds for CityCabs.
01:12CityCabs themselves are a co-operative and have always been very much a family company.
01:21The future for CityCabs is extending that co-operative.
01:25Originally it was the owners of taxi vehicles who were in the co-operative.
01:29We're now extending that and we have brought in all drivers, owners of taxis and staff members to be part of the co-operative.
01:38So everybody that works at CityCabs can have a share in the company and a say in how we move forward.
01:45Speaking at CityCabs Edinburgh West End base, Lewis looked forward to the next 100 years of the Edinburgh Taxi Company.
01:53The work that we're doing now on changing our co-operative, getting everyone involved, will help CityCabs into the future.
02:02That will ensure that longer term we can meet our goals in terms of sustainability, electric vehicles, having our own garage,
02:10and providing an environment that everybody can learn and grow and work together.
