00:00The country maintained the rapid movement of the price of goods and services this January, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority,

00:18The headline inflation of the country remains stable at 2.9 percent this January 2025.
00:24The same rate was seen this December 2024, according to the latest report of the Philippine Statistics Authority.
00:32The main contributors to the overall inflation are food and non-alcoholic beverages, which have 3.8 percent inflation and 50.3 percent share.
00:43Next is housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, which have 2.2 percent inflation and 16.5 percent share.
00:52And restaurants and accommodation services, which have 3.2 percent inflation and 10.8 percent share.
01:00Five of the main commodities that contributed to the overall inflation are tomatoes, which have 155.7 percent inflation.
01:09Restaurants, cafes and others have 3.3 percent inflation.
01:14Renting a house has 2.0 percent inflation.
01:18Pork has 8.4 percent inflation.
01:22Chicken has 8.4 percent inflation.
01:25Meanwhile, some products have a slower price increase.
01:30Corn has 3.6 percent inflation.
01:33Flour, bread and other products have 1.7 percent inflation.
01:38Fruits and peanuts have 6.5 percent inflation.
01:43Negative 2.3 percent inflation in rice is also a positive news, which shows a decrease in prices since December 2024.

01:56For all the three items under rice, the inflation rate is negative year-on-year and month-on-month.
02:06In the National Capital Region or NCR, inflation decreased by 2.8 percent in January 2025.
02:13In the regions outside the NCR, the highest inflation was in Region 2 or Cagayan Valley, 5.1 percent to 4.6 percent in December 2024.
02:24The lowest inflation was in Region 12 or Soxargen, 1.1 percent to 1.2 percent in December 2024.
