00:00In this same line, I would like to tell you that the national government has decided to
00:07also modify the Gender Identity Law and to prohibit the treatments of
00:12hormonalization and the surgeries of body adaptation in minors of 18 years.
00:17The Gender Identity Law today allows people to be subject to
00:23treatments of hormonalization and to surgical interventions in order to
00:28adapt their body to the gender with which they actually identify.
00:36These interventions to which children are exposed is a serious risk to their
00:46health, both physical and mental, since it implies an interruption in their
00:50maturation process. In addition, in many cases, the effects of these
00:55treatments and surgeries are irreversible. Pioneer countries of gender change,
01:01such as the United Kingdom, Sweden, Finland and, until recently, the United States,
01:07are taking a step back, prohibiting minors from being subject to these
01:12processes for considering them irreversible and with devastating consequences in the long term.
