Transcript
00:00My name is Mary Stewart. I was born in Canberra in 1924. I married in 1952 and spent my life
00:08on a dairy farm at Fishwick, Golden Home Dairy, which was beautiful. Now I'm back on the
00:14Malonglo River, which I love. And I love Canberra, I love everything about it. I think it's
00:19got wonderful schools, high schools, galleries, libraries, it's got everything as far as
00:25I'm concerned, except I'd like to see more gardens. Also, I was one of 11 children born
00:31in Canberra. We were all born in Canberra, and it wasn't Canberra then, of course, when
00:36my mother was married in 1927. One of 11 children born in Canberra. Nine of the 11 of us were
00:43born at home. And we're still very good friends. There's only a few of us left now. I'm the
00:51only one living in Canberra now. So I get lots of visitors from everywhere. Because
00:58I was born here, I know a lot of people. I've been here for 90 years, so I should know a
01:03lot of people.
01:05My name's Joanne Scott. My maiden name was Rickman, which I'm very proud of. I was born
01:11here in Canberra in 1961. Lived here all my life until four and a half years ago, when
01:18my husband and I moved up north. However, I still call Canberra home. I love it. I miss
01:24it. I love the warm weather up there. And yeah, Canberra is great. It's two hours from
01:28the beach, an hour from the snow. It's a lovely community feel about it. I love that I have
01:34such a rich family history, both on my dad and especially on my dad's side and my mum's
01:40side. It's a beautiful place to bring up kids, great schools, great restaurants, just that
01:47you can have families here. And I love everything about it, and it's pretty, and it's a great
01:52place to live and work. And yeah, I just love Canberra.
01:56We're staying in, we've been babysitting the grandkids, but we're staying in Canberra a
02:01bit longer. And on this Saturday, which I think is the 8th, I have my 45-year nurses
02:07reunion. We did our training when it was called Wadden Valley Hospital. We started in May
02:121980, and we're all getting together to tell some stories and catch up, which very much
02:19looking forward to.
02:20I'm Jackie Scott. I was born in Canberra in 1984. And what I love about Canberra is it's
02:25the perfect place to raise a little family. I love Canberra. I've been in the wedding
02:29industry here as a makeup artist for 17 years. It's big enough for a flourishing career,
02:34but it's small enough to make really beautiful connections.
02:37We all know that Canberra gets a bit of a bad rep, but I am very loyal to Canberra.
02:42And until you've lived here, you don't really know what you're missing. Canberra is a really
02:45great lifestyle. Plenty of outdoor activities, easy weekend getaways, a great restaurant
02:52and food scene, and a perfect place to run around with the kids.
