00:34Last week, the G25 group of prominent retired civil servants proposed a ban, already in
00:39place in several countries, to curb external influences on domestic politics and protect
00:44national interests.
00:45AMNO Supreme Council member Puat Zarkasi warned that foreign funding could result in a new
00:50form of colonization and escalate sensitive issues related to race, religion, and loyalty.
00:56Additionally, past deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Mun urged the government to
01:00expedite the political financing bill, cautioning that even local corporate donations often
01:05serve hidden agendas to secure government projects.
01:08Last November, Deputy Law and Institutional Reform Minister M Kulasegaran said the proposed
01:13bill was still being studied by the Special Select Committee on Human Rights, Election,
01:18and Institutional Reform.
