00:00Foreign financing to political parties in Malaysia must be controlled and not completely prohibited.

00:09UN Secretary-General Wan Amad Faisal Wan Amad Kamal said that foreign funds that support the development of democracy in Malaysia should be accepted as long as the identity of the donor is known and the rule of law applies to foreign and local donors.

00:24Meanwhile, DAP Secretary-General Sharlina Abdel Rashid emphasized the importance of information dissemination in the cooperation of global democracy, as well as calling for strong laws, clear regulations, and strong enforcement to ensure that the political system remains clean.

00:40Last week, a group of G25 members, consisting of former right-wing officials, proposed a ban on foreign financing, as has been done in several countries, to boost foreign influence in local politics and protect the interests of the country.

00:56Supreme Councilor Puan Zarkashi warned that foreign financing could lead to a new form of colonization and further worsen sensitive issues related to the people, religion, and institutions in power.

01:10In addition, President Pas Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Mat's address urged the government to speed up the expansion of the legal space of political financing, while warning that local corporate donations also often have a hidden agenda to get government projects.
