08:29heart that this kid, of all the things, he would take Brady's card?

08:36But I texted that to Tom and he loved it and, of course, was kind enough to then send a
08:40video back to him and I just thought that was really beautiful.

08:49How daunting is it, though, to release new episodes after making fans wait two years?
08:54Yeah, terrifying.
08:56Obviously, the strike didn't help things.
08:59Especially younger people seem to think that Sonny was a hit, like, always a hit because
09:03it was a show that was always on.
09:04I mean, I have people on my writing staff who weren't born when Sonny first came out
09:09or at least weren't allowed to watch it when it first came out.
09:12And they, in their minds, they're like, oh, it's that show that's always on and it's always
09:15been successful.
09:16And it's not true.
09:17Sonny, nobody watched Sonny for the first six years.
09:22It just needed to find that right moment to hit the cultural zeitgeist and the right support
09:28behind it at FX to continue to make it even though nobody was watching it.
09:32And it was because they believed that that moment was going to happen.
09:35And I believe that that's what's happening with Apple as well.
09:43What the hell are they doing?
09:46I heard Myth-O-Quest described as, it's always Sonny if they actually got work done.
09:51You really have a knack for gathering a cast of characters.
09:53What is it that you see in someone that tells you, yeah, this person has comedic potential?
09:59You have to get somebody in a room and see if they're going to play well off of one another.
10:04The truth is that Charlotte was cast in a different role in season one, not Poppy.
10:12And Poppy was a completely different character.
10:13I just had a feeling about her and I thought we would work really well together and I don't
10:18know why.
10:19I mean, we got along really well, but you get along with lots of people.
10:22It doesn't necessarily mean you're going to feel any kind of comedic chemistry on screen.
10:26I just had a feeling with her.
10:28We quickly rewrote the, just so we could get an offer out to her.
10:33We rewrote the entire pilot to change the characters of Poppy and create the character
10:39of Joe because we have this incredible team who has all this experience recognizing how
10:46people are going to work well together.
