A health boss at the Aneurin Bevan health board has questioned Cardiff University’s decision to cut 400 jobs, including dismantling the nursing department. Jenny Winslade has said the decision is ‘very odd’ and will massively impact nursing numbers across the health board.

00:28the NHS pays universities to train nurses. They're concerned as Cardiff University's
00:33nursing school has roughly 800 students and are very important to the supply chain of
00:37nurses across the country, and the cuts will have a significant impact on nursing numbers.
00:43The university has said that the financial situation at the university is precarious
00:47and cuts, although they have not yet been finalised, could be necessary for the university.
00:52They have opened up a 90-day consultation period and have encouraged people who are
00:55involved in Cardiff to give their thoughts.
