Activist groups have sued Elon Musk's social media platform X in a Berlin court, accusing it of breaking European law by not giving them the information they need to track disinformation online ahead of Germany's Feb. 23 national election.

00:00Here in Germany, a group of activists have Elon Musk and his company X firmly in their sights,
00:07announcing they will try and sue the social media company for what they argue is a breach of
00:12European law. There are two groups, the Society for Civil Rights and Democracy Reporting International.
00:18They say that they're working to track disinformation online ahead of Germany's
00:23election on February 23rd. They argue that X, formerly known as Twitter, is refusing to give
00:30them access to data like the reach of posts and number of likes and shares, information they say
00:36is critical to tracking public debates on the internet. They say that they do have the right
00:41to such data under the terms of the EU's Digital Services Act and that other platforms have given
00:48them access. Now, X has not responded to media questions on this legal action. The case will
00:54be heard here in a Berlin court. CGTN will be following all of the developments to bring you
