00:00Solar eclipses are rare events which occur when the moon passes in front of
00:08the Sun. They can turn a bright sunny day into something closer to night and it's
00:12a sight to behold. Just don't look right at it. Now NASA says it's mapped the next
00:16couple of solar eclipses that are expected to occur over the next few
00:19months and the best spots to watch them. The next one will occur pretty soon on
00:23October 14th and NASA has released a series of images showing the future
00:27eclipses paths. They say it will be viewable in only the western half of the
00:31United States starting in Texas and moving up towards Oregon and it will be
00:34a truly epic display. That's because the moon is at its furthest point from the
00:38earth during that eclipse meaning it's smaller resulting in a fiery ring
00:42protruding from its perimeter. But if you're an East coaster there's one
00:45coming up on April 8th 2024 as well. This one will be incredible for another
00:49reason. It's going to black out the Sun completely. That's because the moon is at
00:53its closest position and it will be the last solar eclipse of its kind causing
00:57extreme darkness until 2044. If you're looking to catch a glimpse of these
01:01incredible and rare events mark your calendars and don't forget your
01:05protective eyewear.
