00:00The legal experts in the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte have made various statements.

00:11According to the retired Supreme Court Associate Justice Adolf Azcuna,

00:15one of the people who violated the 1987 Constitution,

00:18two things can happen if Duterte is convicted.

00:21First, he will be removed from his position and for the rest of his life,

00:24he will be prohibited from running for any position in the government.

00:28Or he will be given a light sentence of censure or reprimand by the Impeachment Court.

00:34According to the former Integrated Bar of the Philippines President Domingo Cayoza,

00:38the first scenario that can happen is just that,

00:41the punishment for the convicts in the impeachment trial.

00:45As for the pardon, Azcuna said that the President can do that.

00:51For Cayoza, the President has no power to pardon the impeachment

00:56because this is an administrative case and not a criminal case.

01:00Azcuna and Cayoza also said that the impeachment process should continue.

01:06Impeachment is not an issue of politics but an issue of the accountability of government officials.

01:15Public officials are accountable at all times.

01:20At all times, it should not be interrupted

01:24simply because a new Congress is coming in because of the principles of accountability.
