00:00symbolizes the spirit of Scouting and the values that we hold dear.
00:05Integrity, respect, care, belief and cooperation. I would just like to read a
00:11few lines from the Davies Citation for his award. Davies current role is a
00:15section leader with First Borough Scouts. With Davies support his group regularly
00:20helps with burn suppers, Kayleys, fundraising feats and also support the
00:24Rotary Club and Armistice services locally. Davies is a Knights Away
00:29Assessor and previously the Regional International Advisor. Davies has for
00:33decades maintained a strong relationship with a local landowner enabling
00:38Scouting to enjoy camping on the shores of Lochblora that they can call their
00:42own. He has for a number of years maintained a link with a partner Scout
00:45group in Austria and has run several trips over the years allowing young
00:48people to access international Scouting. Since 1973 Davies has been
00:54instrumental in supporting the Calais Rally in roles such as the land
00:58activities coordinator, the transport coordinator and despite his years still
01:03plays an essential role as part of the site services team today. Despite being
01:08in his late 70s Davies can often be seen building industrial sized camp ovens or
01:14climbing on top of his Land Rover to strap down the camp flagpole, probably
01:19risk-assessed of course. Davies has been a firm fixture around the camp and it's a
01:24huge honor for me to present him with this award.
