00:00In front of the continuous entry of ships of China in the Exclusive Economic Zone of the Philippines,

00:06the modernization for the Philippine Coast Guard is also ongoing.

00:09In fact, some new equipment is expected to arrive under the administration of Marcos Jr.

00:21After President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. again opposed the protection in the West Philippine Sea

00:27despite the limited equipment,

00:29the Philippine Coast Guard said that they will not be able to withstand the surveillance.

00:34The President insisted that only the PCG and AFP will continue their mandate

00:40in front of the continuous aggressive entry of ships of China in our Exclusive Economic Zone.

00:47We don't have the means to evacuate.

00:49It's not good if we have an aircraft carrier with a destroyer, frigate, and submarine

00:56that we will send there to push them away.

01:00We don't have that.

01:01If it's just a large number of ships, we are far from China.

01:08But our policy is that we will just continue to defend our sovereign territory

01:16and our territorial rights in the EEZ.

01:19What is the mission of the Coast Guard?

01:21What is the mission of the Navy?

01:22To protect the territorial integrity of the Philippines.

01:26So that's what they will do.

01:27This is the reason why President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. last year approved

01:42the acquisition of five more 97-meters from Japan

01:45and 40 more vessels that will be coming from France as well.

01:49I think the silver lining of the statement is, again, to inform the Filipino people

01:56that we are committed in carrying out our patriotic duty in the West Philippine Sea.

02:53Meanwhile, the PCG returned to the statement of Sagip Partilis Rep. Rodante Marcoleta

03:00that there is no West Philippine Sea.

03:10This statement of a lawmaker who aspires to be a senator

03:16is giving false information to our Filipino countrymen.

03:27is for us to provide correct information to our countrymen

03:33so that we can be united to defend our fight in the West Philippine Sea.

03:37In 2012, the government officially used the term West Philippine Sea

03:42under an administrative order that was passed by former President Noy Aquino.

03:48Only a portion of our EEZ in the South China Sea is included.

03:53This was confirmed by the Philippine Maritime Zones Act

03:56that was passed by President Marcos Jr. last year.
