00:00We all know the Bears are eyeing that lakefront stadium, but here's the thing,
00:04the biggest question still remains. Who's going to foot the bill?
00:07For years, Chicago's been struggling with how to fund a new stadium that will keep the Bears
00:11in the city. Well, Bob Morgan thinks he's got the solution, and it's a bit bold, even for a Bears fan.
00:18Morgan has proposed the Balanced Earnings and Records Standards, or BEARS Act, and yes,
00:24the name is a bit on the nose, but hear me out. According to this bill, if a professional sports
00:29team wants to use public money for their stadium projects, they better be putting up winning
00:34seasons. Specifically, a team must have a 500 record in at least three out of the last five
00:41years to be eligible for funding. And if the Bears want to keep that Arlington Heights backup plan in
00:46check, they're gonna have to show they can win. But here's the catch, the Bears are one of those
00:52teams that has been stuck in that just average zone for far too long. A win here and there
00:58but we've seen more disappointment than excitement in recent seasons.
01:02So does this mean the Bears are going to miss out on getting public funds for their new stadium?
01:09Not exactly. Morgan's bill also lets teams that are under five years old slide a little. But in
01:15the Bears' case, they'll need to show something solid, especially when you consider they're aiming
01:20for an almost $5 billion stadium project. With $2 billion, $300 million of that being their
01:27contribution, the remaining $2,400,000,000 would need to come from public funding. That's a tough
01:33sell if you're not winning games, especially when fans are demanding better. Now let's talk about
01:39the Bears for a second. What if we finally see some consistent wins from this team in the next
01:44few years? With the roster building up and the offense looking more promising, who knows,
01:50maybe this new stadium proposal becomes a reality. And honestly, who cares who pays for it
01:57if the team is finally competing at the top level? The good news? This proposal might actually force
02:05the Bears to show they're not just a franchise waiting for a shiny new stadium, but a real
02:10contender in the NFL. If they can prove they deserve it, this could be a win for all of us.
02:15So what do you think, Bears fans? Should public money only go to the winning teams,
02:21or do we take the leap and trust the Bears will get there? Let me know in the comments below,
02:27and don't forget to hit that like button if you're excited to see how this all plays out.
02:31As always, Bear Down!
