00:00One thing a lot of us appreciate in video games is the opportunity to customise what our character is wearing.
00:06This can be a form of self-expression, or maybe wanting said character to look absolutely badass.
00:11Not all attires are readily available from the start, though, and in this list, we're going to be looking at 10 of the rarest costumes in video games.
00:19I'm Jess from WhatCulture, and here are the rarest video game costumes nobody unlocked.
00:248. Golden Quiet – Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom Pain
00:28Metal Gear Solid V – The Phantom Pain was released back in 2015, not long after the teaser Metal Gear Solid V Ground Zeroes launched onto consoles in 2014.
00:38Quiet, the mute companion of Snake in Metal Gear Solid V, has quite a few different outfits you can unlock.
00:44From being coated in silver paint to gearing up in all tactical wear, Quiet has an outfit for every occasion.
00:50Long-time fans of Hideo Kojima will be aware that he's a huge fan of the James Bond films, so naturally, one of the more slippery outfits to get comes in the form of a nod to the movie Goldfinger.
01:01The outfit involves Quiet being painted head-to-toe in gold, very reminiscent of a particular scene.
01:07In order to get this one, you will have to max Quiet's Bond level to 100%, meaning it is no small feat.
01:15You'll be taking Quiet with you on the vast majority of the missions to get that Bond up, something a lot of players might not manage to do in their initial playthrough.
01:23On top of the Bond being maxed out, you'll also need to pay 570,000 currency and have an R&D level of 22.
01:317. Look at the Buns on Chris Resident Evil is no stranger to bizarre and downright absurd costumes, which you can unlock for the many different characters throughout the series.
01:41Usually, the more skimpy and strange ones are reserved for the ladies, for example Jill's revealing unlockable outfit from Resident Evil Deadly Silence.
01:49Capcom did make it up to players at long last in Resident Evil Revelations, though.
01:54The tables here were finally turned on Chris Redfield, making a nice change.
01:58If players were able to amass a total of 100,000 points from a single run in Raid mode, they'd be awarded this beautiful sailor outfit.
02:07I do say outfit here in the loosest possible terms.
02:10This stunning little sailor get-up is accompanied by a set of white gloves, a sailor hat, and some cheeky tattoos, all of which help to pull this very revealing sailor costume together.
02:20So, move over Jill, you are no longer the hottest one on this boat.
02:236. Xenoblade Chronicles – Zelda Breath of the Wild
02:27The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild has Link running around and exploring a huge, sprawling world filled with treasures and mysteries to uncover.
02:35You'll spend many hours fighting, grafting, exploring, and scavenging to fully complete all the game has to offer.
02:41That doesn't even include all the DLC the game has to offer, either.
02:44One of these is a DLC you probably missed, but it is available for free on the Nintendo Store.
02:49When installed, it unlocks a mission to find the unique outfit, the Salvager Set.
02:54This snazzy little get-up was part of a cross-promotion with Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
02:58Once all set, there will be three separate locations you need to go to.
03:02These locations must be approached at just after 9pm in-game, or the events won't trigger.
03:07When those requirements are fulfilled, you'll notice a red shooting star falling into certain locations around Hyrule.
03:13When they land, a red column of light will shine bright into the sky, leading you to a unique set of red treasure chests.
03:20Collect all three to unlock this exclusive outfit.
03:23Each piece increases the player's swim speed, and wearing all three at the same time grants an additional bonus.
03:295. Mileena's Flesh Pits – Mortal Kombat 2011
03:32Mortal Kombat 9, or just Mortal Kombat as the game likes to brand itself, was released in 2011 on various platforms.
03:39Making your way through the story mode will have you meeting and interacting with a wide selection of characters,
03:44as well as inevitably kicking their asses to the curb.
03:47Whilst playing as Kitana, you'll eventually enter a fight against Mileena.
03:51She'll be in a very revealing outfit known as the Flesh Pit Outfit,
03:56essentially just some strategically placed bloodstained bandages that barely cover the most intimate parts of her body.
04:01To unlock it for yourself, it'll take a little bit of legwork.
04:04Okay, it's gonna take a lot of legwork.
04:06Mileena's skimpy get-up can be unlocked by finishing the momentous task of beating Floor 300 of the Challenge Tower,
04:13which is reserved for Master players only.
04:164. Mario & Luigi Costumes – Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate
04:21Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate was released on the Nintendo 3DS back in October 2014,
04:26with a wide array of awesome and unique outfits to unlock in its world.
04:30However, none are as fashionable or as funky as the outfits you can pick up for Mario and Luigi
04:35as part of the Starter Pack that released in 2015.
04:38The Starter Pack DLC contains the ability to make either Mario or Luigi's outfit for the Palico, your little cat companion.
04:46Unfortunately, there were not enough materials given to be able to create both outfits,
04:50so players would have to choose between the iconic Plumber or the iconic Ghost Hunter.
04:55Sadly on this one, the DLC was only available for a limited time,
04:58so if you didn't get it back then, you're not gonna be able to get it now.
05:02The DLC was a big promotional opportunity for both Mario and Monster Hunter,
05:06something Nintendo loves to do with their IPs.
05:09Just look at the Zelda and Xenoblade event from Breath of the Wild as an example.
05:12Number 3. Dead or Alive 5
05:14Dead or Alive 5 was released onto multiple platforms on September 25th of 2012.
05:19Players would soon discover just how hard it was gonna be unlocking all of the options for the ladies of DOA.
05:25Anybody wanting these rare outfits would have to put the work in, as they're no easy feat.
05:30To unlock these outfits, you're gonna have to have luck and skill on your side.
05:34You'll be playing on the 7th difficulty setting, known as Legendary, the hardest in the game.
05:40Expect to get countered, thrown and beaten like you never knew possible.
05:44You also have to be playing in either Time Attack or Arcade mode for the outfits to appear.
05:49Once the costume has finally graced your screen, you must beat the fighter and finish up the rest of the game mode.
05:55This is gonna be difficult to do on its own, but just to rub salt in the wound,
05:59there's only a 30% chance for the outfit to even unlock upon completion.
06:04So expect a lot of frustration and many, many playthroughs until you get the desired outfit you want.
06:13Metal Gear Solid 4 Guns of the Patriots has an excellent costume you can unlock,
06:17and it actually began as an April Fool's joke from Hideo Kojima to fans.
06:21The outfit in question was the cloak and hood worn by famed assassin Altair from Assassin's Creed.
06:27The joke then quickly became reality, much to the delight of fans everywhere,
06:31when Kojima actually placed Altair's cloak in the game as an unlockable outfit.
06:36To get this marvellous outfit added to the collection, you're gonna have to undertake quite the task.
06:41First, you'll just need to complete the game at any difficulty that pleases you. Easy enough.
06:46Alongside that, though, you'll also have to execute 50 kills with the knife,
06:50perform a CQC hold on 50 different people and, perhaps most difficult of all,
06:56get 24 or fewer alerts, all in a single playthrough.
07:00Do all of this, though, and you'll be rewarded with the outfit after the credits finish.
07:09God of War Chains of Olympus is a PlayStation Portable game that was released back in 2008.
07:14The game would get re-released onto PlayStation 3 in 2011 in a bundle
07:18with the other PSP God of War game, Ghost of Sparta.
07:22There's a vast array of outfits to unlock while players adventure away with Kratos.
07:26One of the most ridiculous looking and hardest to get is the Mime of War outfit,
07:31which does exactly what it says on the tin. Kratos will adorn a mime outfit.
07:35For players looking to add this outrageous outfit to their wardrobe,
07:39you're going to need to complete the game on God difficulty, which is the hardest difficulty.
07:44When the mime outfit is worn, players will see that all their weapons,
07:47such as the Blades of Chaos, Gauntlet of Zeus and Sunshield, are turned completely invisible,
07:52showing only gloved hands in their place.
07:55The outfit also grants players a massive boost to the red orbs that can be obtained from combos,
08:00which is very handy.
08:01It's just a shame that players will already have had to complete the game on the hardest difficulty
08:05before gaining access to that little buff.
08:07That's the end of our list, but let me know down in that comment section
08:10if you can think of any other extremely rare costumes you reckon pretty much nobody was able to unlock.
08:15Thanks so much for hanging out with me.
08:17As always, I've been Jess from WhatCulture.
