00:00Sometimes, people who look like they hate each other on screen aren't exactly acting.
00:05These are the stories of some major divas and total jerks who some actors have said
00:09they can't stand.
00:11Which Batman villain was a nightmare to work with on set?
00:15And who punched John Leguizamo on the first day of rehearsal?
00:18Keep watching to learn which actors have been rude, offensive, or downright abusive to their
00:23co-stars.
00:25Glee was intended to be a wholesome show, with Lea Michele feeling right at home in
00:29the role of the naive girl next door.
00:32Who would have expected, then, that the actor behind the lovable Rachel Berry would eventually
00:36become infamous for tormenting her co-stars?
00:39Numerous Glee veterans have called out Michele for highly problematic on-set behavior in
00:45the years since the show went off the air.
00:47It all began when Season 6 Glee star Samantha Marie Ware replied to Michele's tweet showing
00:52support for Black Lives Matter with a since-deleted comment, saying,
00:56Remember when you made my first television gig a living hell?
00:59I believe you told everyone that if you had the opportunity, you would s---- in my wig,
01:04amongst other traumatic microaggressions that made me question a career in Hollywood.
01:09Michele apologized publicly on Instagram, but the potentially career-ending revelations
01:14didn't end there.
01:15Glee co-star Heather Morris tweeted that Michele was disrespectful and, quote, unpleasant to
01:20work with.
01:21Xavier Snell, who briefly appeared in the Glee episode, New Directions, was a little
01:26less polite, saying,
01:27Girl, you wouldn't let me sit at the table with the other cast members cause I didn't
01:31belong there.
01:32F---- you, Leah.
01:34Unfortunately, Michele's mistreatment of co-stars wasn't confined to the Glee set, or television
01:39in general.
01:40Gerard Canonico, who starred alongside Michele in Spring Awakening on Broadway, called her
01:45out for constantly playing the victim when addressing bullying claims.
01:50Speaking under Michele's apology post, Canonico wrote,
01:52You are nothing but a nightmare to me and fellow understudy cast members.
01:57It's not a secret that Daniel Day-Lewis is an extreme method actor, but his co-stars
02:02often suffer as a consequence.
02:04Day-Lewis clashed with Liam Neeson on the set of Gangs of New York, with the Irish star
02:09repeatedly branding his method acting,
02:11Madness.
02:12Speaking with reporters after the taken premiere, Neeson admitted that he was irritated by Day-Lewis'
02:17insistence that everyone refer to him by his character's name, even when they met up
02:22at the gym during out-of-work hours.
02:24Neeson said of his technique,
02:26Actors such as Daniel Day-Lewis are often held up as, this is the way to act, but I
02:30don't go to bed dreaming and sleeping the character.
02:33Likewise, although Day-Lewis' Phantom Thread co-star Vicky Creeps enjoyed making the film,
02:39she said the three-time Best Actor winner basically lived as his cold, cruel protagonist
02:44throughout production, and treated his on-screen lover accordingly.
02:48As was noted in The Guardian, preparing his role as Reynolds Woodcock, a London couturier,
02:53Day-Lewis, with his habitual method actor zeal, learned to think like Balenciaga, sewed
02:59a hundred buttonholes, and kept Creeps at bay.
03:02Creeps explained that she didn't actually meet Day-Lewis until their first scene together,
03:06stating,
03:07I think this is what he, Day-Lewis, intended.
03:09I thought, if that is the rule of the game, I'll play it.
03:12I spent a whole day staring into greenery to avoid him.
03:15I'm not playing a game?
03:16Yes, mm-hmm.
03:17What game am I playing?
03:19What game?
03:20What precisely is the nature of my game?
03:22You tell me.
03:23Think there's madness to his method?
03:25Be prepared.
03:26Day-Lewis will drink his detractor's milkshake.
03:29Bill Murray may be a hero to many, but beneath his lovable deadpan persona lies a dark side.
03:35There's been a longstanding rumor that Murray treated Lucy Liu appallingly on the set of
03:40Charlie's Angels.
03:41In a 2009 interview with The Times, the actor pretty much confirmed that he was a jerk on
03:46set, but appeared to place the blame squarely on Liu, a common tactic used by abusive men.
03:52Murray said,
03:53Look, I will dismiss you completely if you are unprofessional and working with me.
03:57Giving her side of the story to the Los Angeles Times, Liu confirmed that Murray did not treat
04:02her kindly.
04:03She elaborated,
04:04As we're doing this scene, Bill starts to sort of hurl insults, and I won't get into
04:08the specifics, but it kept going on and on.
04:11Some of the language was inexcusable and unacceptable, and I was not going to just sit there and
04:15take it.
04:16So yes, I stood up for myself, and I don't regret it."
04:19On The Drew Barrymore Show, the host confirmed that while Murray was unkind to all his Charlie's
04:24Angels co-stars, he zeroed in on Liu.
04:27The other Angels weren't happy with this, though.
04:30Barrymore remembered,
04:31We all supported her and backed her up.
04:34Despite his marriage to feminist actor Annette Binning, actor and director Warren Beatty
04:38has a lengthy history of alleged harassment towards female co-stars.
04:42This harassment reportedly occurred on the sets of two of his most famous films, Dick
04:47Tracy and Reds.
04:48Blade Runner star Sean Young, whose acting career began to falter in the late 1980s,
04:54credits Beatty with effectively blacklisting her from Hollywood after she spurned his advances
04:59during production on Dick Tracy.
05:01Young told the Daily Beast that she was fired from the production for refusing to sleep
05:05with Beatty, saying,
05:07It's not just Warren, it's across the board.
05:09Ever since the movie business began, women have been treated as a commodity.
05:13There was always someone grabbing you, and I just ignored it."
05:16Additionally, British actor Miriam Margulies, who is openly gay, has claimed that Beatty
05:21made crude remarks about her sexuality during her audition for Reds.
05:26During an interview with ITV, Margulies recalled her creepy encounter with the film's star
05:30and director in his trailer, saying,
05:33I opened the door, he looked me up, down, up, and said,
05:36Do you f—k?
05:37To which Margulies responded,
05:39Yes, but not you.
05:42There's a reason why Chevy Chase has become such a controversial figure in recent years.
05:46The Saturday Night Live veteran has a long history of treating co-stars appallingly.
05:51When Terry Sweeney became the first openly gay cast member on SNL, he found himself the
05:56subject of homophobic abuse whenever Chase happened to be hosting the show.
06:01According to the book Live From New York, Chase suggested that Sweeney should be weighed
06:05on a weekly basis to ascertain whether he had AIDS, leading to the comedian being reprimanded.
06:11Sweeney remembered,
06:12He was really furious that he had to apologize to me.
06:15Chase was reportedly banned from returning to the show after hitting cast member Cheri
06:19O'Terry on the back of the head, although SNL showrunner Lorne Michaels has denied these
06:25claims.
06:26Playing the role of Pierce Hawthorne in Community years later, Chase allegedly racially abused
06:31Donald Glover, telling him on one occasion,
06:34People think you're funnier because you're Black.
06:36Is that a new stereotype?
06:37The show's creator, Dan Harmon, corroborated these claims, explaining to The New Yorker,
06:42Chevy was the first to realize how immensely gifted Donald was, and the way he expressed
06:47his jealousy was to try to throw Donald off.
06:50I remember apologizing to Donald after a particularly rough night of Chevy's non-PC
06:55verbiage.
06:56Responding to these claims, Chase remained evasive, simply saying that he was, quote,
07:01saddened to hear that Donald perceived me in that light.
07:05Leonard Roberts claims that his on-screen wife, Allie Larder, subjected him to racism
07:10behind the scenes of Heroes, setting off a chain of events that ended with his character
07:14being killed off in Season 2.
07:16Roberts wrote in Variety,
07:18D.L. Hawkins was in an interracial marriage with Nikki Sanders, a white woman played by
07:23Allie Larder.
07:24The script suggested D.L. and Nikki had a volatile relationship, and it wasn't long
07:29before art was imitating life, with me on the receiving end of pushback from my co-star.
07:34Despite Larder being the instigator, Roberts attempted to assuage the rift by gifting her
07:39a bottle of wine and a heartfelt note, but she refused to acknowledge the gesture of
07:43goodwill.
07:44On another occasion, Larder refused to shoot an intimate scene with Roberts, despite being
07:49happy to film a sex scene with white actor Adrian Pasdar on a later occasion.
07:54In a damning revelation, he claimed that Larder attempted to stop him from ever divulging what
07:59had happened.
08:00Variety notes that Roberts' claims were verified by 10 people who worked on the show.
08:05Larder responded to the accusations in a statement to TV Line, saying,
08:09I am truly sorry for any role I may have played in his painful experience during that time,
08:15and I wish him and his family the very best."
08:18There has long been an aura of mystique surrounding Marlon Brando, who is widely regarded as one
08:23of the greatest icons of Hollywood's Golden Age.
08:26However, despite his numerous progressive stances, most notably his support of Native
08:31Americans and the civil rights movement, many of the actor's actions were inharmonious with
08:36his compassionate views.
08:38The controversial film Last Tango in Paris contains an infamous rape scene, one that
08:42Brando and director Bernardo Bertolucci refused to tell actress Maria Schneider about beforehand.
08:49In a resurfaced interview, Bertolucci admitted,
08:52"...I wanted her to react humiliated.
08:54I think she hated me and also Marlon because we didn't tell her."
08:58Schneider found the experience to be humiliating indeed, saying,
09:01"...So I did the scene and I cried.
09:04I cried real tears during that scene.
09:06I was feeling humiliation."
09:07In a separate incident, Brando yelled at Dennis Hopper on the set of Apocalypse Now! over
09:12a minor misunderstanding and proceeded to have an overblown tantrum.
09:16Hopper remembered,
09:17"...he gets up and says, I don't have to listen to this, I don't have to take this.
09:21And he is screaming and yelling, why do I have to hear it from him?
09:24I have to hear it from this punk."
09:26In Batman Forever, Jim Carrey and Tommy Lee Jones played the iconic villains Riddler and
09:32Two-Face, who team up to take on the caped crusader.
09:35Behind the scenes, however, it appeared that Jones may have lived up to his character's
09:39two-faced nature a little too much.
09:41Director Joel Schumacher has claimed that Jones acted like a bully towards Carrey on
09:46the set of the heavily panned 90s flick.
09:49In a 2019 interview with Vulture, the late filmmaker said,
09:52"...he wasn't kind to Jim.
09:54He did not act towards Jim the way an Oscar winner with a star on Hollywood Boulevard,
09:58being the oldest member of the cast and having such a distinguished career and the accolades
10:03to go with it, should have acted towards Jim."
10:06During an appearance on Norm MacDonald Live, Carrey addressed the hostile working environment,
10:11confessing,
10:12"...Tommy Lee Jones said to me that he couldn't sanction my performance.
10:15I was the star.
10:16That was the problem."
10:17Despite Carrey's best efforts, Jones would not be swayed.
10:21The comic continued,
10:22"...I went over and I said, hey Tommy, how you doing?
10:25And the blood just drained from his face like he had been thinking about me for 24 hours
10:29a day.
10:30He said, I cannot sanction your buffoonery.
10:32Holy mackerel, it seems like Jones and Carrey just have incompatible philosophies when it
10:36comes to acting."
10:37"...The difference?
10:38Showmanship."
10:39Despite his beloved, sensitive performance in films like The Graduate and Rain Man, tales
10:46of Dustin Hoffman's horrifying mistreatment of co-stars started to arise in 2017, casting
10:52significant doubt on the actor's previously clean-cut public image.
10:56Katherine Rossiter, who acted alongside Hoffman on the Broadway revival of Death of a Salesman,
11:02alleged that Hoffman was a total creep, both in and out of character.
11:07In a piece for The Hollywood Reporter, Rossiter wrote that Hoffman suggested that they go
11:11over their lines in a hotel room, and pressured her into giving him a back rub.
11:15She wrote,
11:16"...that was the beginning of what was to become a horrific, demoralizing, and abusive experience
11:21at the hands, literally, of one of my acting idols."
11:24The abuse took its toll on Rossiter, who continued,
11:27"...night after night I went home and cried.
11:30I withdrew and got depressed and did not have any good interpersonal relationships with
11:34the cast.
11:35How could the same man who fought to get me the job, who complimented my work, who essentially
11:39launched my career, how could he also be this sexual power abuser?"
11:44Additionally, Slate unearthed a Time article from 1979 in which Meryl Streep recalled her
11:50first encounter with Hoffman, which was also during theater work.
11:54Streep recalled,
11:55"...he came up to me and said, I'm Dustin Burp Hoffman, and he put his hand on my breast.
12:00What an obnoxious pig, I thought."
12:02He may have been a Hollywood legend, but Kirk Douglas had an infamous mean side.
12:07Plenty of actors from Hollywood's golden age have shared horror stories of their time on
12:11set with the Spartacus star.
12:13If you were acting alongside Douglas, you had to watch out.
12:16During the filming of The Heroes of Telemark, Douglas appeared to take an immediate dislike
12:21to Richard Harris, which actor David Weston attributed to the aging Douglas being jealous
12:26of Harris' youth.
12:27Weston told The Telegraph that the first words he heard Douglas say to Harris on set were,
12:32"...are you going to be as big a b---- as they say you are?"
12:36Douglas later grew even more bitter when he noticed that Harris was driving a swanky car,
12:41and threatened to delay production until he, too, was given a luxury vehicle.
12:45Similarly, Douglas mistreated Doris Day on the set of 1950's Young Man with a Horn, the
12:51filming of which Day described as, quote, an utterly joyless experience.
12:55He was also cruel to Farrah Fawcett during the filming of the heavily panned sci-fi flick
13:00Saturn 3.
13:01According to The Times, Douglas referred to Fawcett as Mrs. Majors, which upset her, considering
13:07she was in the midst of a divorce from actor Lee Majors.
13:10Of course, none of this is as monstrous as the accusation leveled by Lana Wood, who alleges
13:16that Douglas sexually assaulted her sister Natalie during production on The Searchers
13:20in 1955.
13:23In his heyday, Rex Harrison was an acclaimed actor, immortalized through his iconic depiction
13:28of grammar snob Henry Higgins in My Fair Lady, both on Broadway and on the silver screen.
13:34Unfortunately, despite the lovable nature of his most iconic performance, Harrison apparently
13:39treated numerous co-stars like absolute trash.
13:42During the Broadway run of My Fair Lady, Harrison reportedly developed an intense hatred for
13:47Julie Andrews, who played Cockney flower girl Eliza Doolittle, remarking,
13:52"'If that b---- is still here on Monday, I'm quitting the show.'"
13:55Andrews addressed Harrison's difficult behavior in her memoir, Home, writing,
14:00"'I don't remember who said this, but someone made a cogent remark.
14:04No matter how big a s---- Rex was, the truth is he cut the mustard, and for that, one forgave
14:09him everything.'"
14:10When My Fair Lady was adapted into the classic 1964 film, Harrison was cast alongside Audrey
14:16Hepburn, to whom he took an immediate dislike to as well.
14:19He branded Hepburn, "'Bloody Audrey'," and argued that she was the wrong choice for the
14:23part.
14:24In his memoirs, Roger Moore said of the grumpy actor,
14:27"'Rex Harrison could be a rather mean-spirited man, and he wasn't regarded very warmly by
14:32those who knew him.'"
14:34On the set of Executive Decision, Steven Seagal acted like a total jerk.
14:38According to John Leguizamo, Seagal had hefty delusions of grandeur, and attempted to dominate
14:43his fellow actors.
14:45Leguizamo and the other experienced actors on set were hoping to maintain a professional
14:50atmosphere, but Seagal had other ideas.
14:52"'He comes in, I'm in command, what I say is law, you disagree.
14:57And I started cracking, I was like, pfft.'"
15:00Unfortunately, Seagal didn't take Leguizamo's insubordination lightly.
15:05"'And he akido'd me against a brick wall, pow, knocked all the air out of me.
15:11I was like, what?''
15:13In a different interview, actor Steven Tobolowsky said that working with Seagal on The Glimmer
15:18Man was a traumatic experience.
15:20Tobolowsky told AV Club,
15:22"'Director John Gray came in and told me in a panic that Steven Seagal wanted to rewrite
15:27the script.
15:28He decided it was bad for his karma to constantly be killing people in movies, so he didn't
15:32want to kill me anymore.'
15:34Seagal eventually relented, only to end up ad-libbing a line that implied Tobolowsky's
15:40character hadn't died at all.
15:42Actor and stand-up comic David Cross is known for being quite vocal about his left-wing
15:47views, so it was a major shock when stories of Cross hurling horrendous abuse at Charlene
15:52Yee surfaced in 2017.
15:55Cross and Yee both lent their voices to the lighthearted kids' film Next Gen, but the
16:00casting seemed to dredge up some negative memories behind the scenes.
16:04In a series of now-deleted tweets, Yee claimed that Cross made racist remarks when the two
16:09were introduced to each other by their mutual friend, Michael Cera, around 2007.
16:14Yee wrote,
16:15"'It is very uncool that a 40-plus man was being racist toward me.'"
16:19According to Yee, Cross made various offensive jibes and even questioned whether they could
16:23speak English.
16:25Responding to the accusations, Cross claimed that he couldn't remember any of these racist
16:30but didn't deny them either, elaborating,
16:32"'I would never intentionally hurt someone like that.
16:35I do not remember doing this when I met them.
16:37I am not accusing Charlene Yee of lying and I am truly sorry.'"
16:41In a lengthy response, Cross later backtracked on his inability to recollect the encounter.
16:46He admitted that he racially abused Yee and offended his Arrested Development co-star,
16:51Cera.
16:52While Cross apologized for upsetting Yee and Cera, he dubiously claimed that he was in
16:58as a, quote,
16:59"'a***** redneck racist.'"
17:01Just as British actor Noel Clarke was flying high due to the popularity of his TV show
17:06Viewpoint, the show was pulled right before its final episode, in the wake of some alarming
17:11revelations.
17:12As reported by The Guardian, 20 women have accused Clarke of
17:16"...sexual harassment, unwanted touching or groping, sexually inappropriate behavior and
17:21comments on set, professional misconduct, taking and sharing sexually explicit pictures
17:26and videos without consent, and bullying."
17:29Jane Lucie starred alongside Clarke in the film S.A.S.
17:33Red Notice, and alleged that he propositioned her for sex, telling his co-star that he,
17:38quote,
17:39"...couldn't help it."
17:40When Lucie rejected Clarke's advances, she said he exhibited a terrifying dark side and
17:45threatened her.
17:46Lucie recalled Clarke telling her,
17:48"'All right, fine.
17:49Don't tell anyone about this, yeah?
17:51Cause if you do, it will get back to me.
17:53I will find out.'"
17:54In addition to the many female co-stars who accused Clarke of sexual misconduct, Adam
17:59Deacon, who starred alongside the disgraced actor in Adulthood, called out his former
18:03co-star on Twitter, going as far as to call him sociopathic.
18:08Deacon claimed that Clarke, quote,
18:10"...continually sabotaged his career," writing,
18:13"...I only wish that everyone had taken more notice of my words.
18:16His horrific abuse of power could have been stopped before it affected so many others."
18:23As Kendall Roy on HBO's Succession, Jeremy Strong stars in one of the biggest shows on
18:27television.
18:28But as his career has been on a massive upswing, his reputation amongst his fellow actors has
18:32taken a bit of a hit.
18:34Though he rejects the label himself, Strong is frequently described as a method actor.
18:38Phenomenal results can be achieved by remaining in character in this fashion, but the tactics
18:43of method actors often rub crew members and castmates the wrong way.
18:47One notorious profile on Strong in The New Yorker struck a particularly powerful blow
18:51to his public reputation.
18:53The profile revealed that while shooting Succession, he was prone to preparing rehearsed speeches
18:58and trying to pass them off as improvisation, as well as getting inebriated on set when
19:03his character fell off the wagon.
19:04His castmates have described his method acting approach as occasionally frustrating or intrusive,
19:09but none have been more vocally opposed to his habits than Brian Cox, who plays Strong's
19:14on-screen father, Logan Roy.
19:16During an interview with Town & Country, Cox said that he thinks Strong is a fantastic
19:20actor, but that he finds his method acting style to be annoying.
19:24Succession is far from the only production where Strong's method acting has been an impediment
19:28for others.
19:29On The Trial of the Chicago 7, he frequently ruined takes by pulling pranks while in character
19:34as hippie Jerry Rubin, and for one scene he requested to be blasted with real tear gas,
19:40even though that would've meant putting hundreds of extras and crew members through the same
19:43physical torment.
19:44Gerard Depardieu
19:45Gerard Depardieu is one of the most celebrated actors in the history of French cinema, having
19:49nearly 250 credits in his filmography over the course of five decades, Depardieu has
19:54played many iconic and acclaimed roles.
19:57With such superstardom inflating his ego, he has been known to act as if the rules didn't
20:01apply to him.
20:02Depardieu committed pretty crime in his youth, and he's had plenty of brushes with the law
20:07after becoming a star as well.
20:08Did you steal?
20:09Steal?
20:10Yes, of course.
20:12His scandals ran the gamut from physical assault and frequent fighting to white-collar crimes
20:17connected to his numerous businesses, to a weird incident in which he urinated on
20:21a plane.
20:22You were flying to Ireland?
20:23Yes, I peed on the plane, yes.
20:26During the hashtag MeToo movement, Depardieu was accused of sexual assault by more than
20:30a dozen women, most of whom were actors or crew members who worked with him.
20:35As reported by the Associated Press, 13 accusers came out against him while also suggesting
20:40that his total number of victims was surely much higher since he had a reputation for
20:44frequently groping and fondling the extras on his film shoots.
20:48Depardieu has often been hailed as one of the greatest actors of his generation, but
20:52incredible performances don't justify his actions by any stretch of the imagination.
20:57Tobey Maguire
20:58Tobey Maguire is best known for starring as Spider-Man in the Sam Raimi trilogy, and he
21:02recently reprised the role in Spider-Man No Way Home.
21:05The heroic, morally upright side of the character is allegedly not one shared by Maguire personally.
21:11For many years, the actor has had a reputation for being hard to work with and extremely
21:15troublesome behind the scenes.
21:16His rude, out-of-control behavior on sets has drawn fire from his co-stars, and his
21:21public outbursts captured by paparazzi have hurt his image with the general public.
21:25Maguire is one of the only successful Hollywood stars to be so incendiary in real life that
21:30he became the villain of a woman's non-fiction autobiography and his corresponding film adaptation.
21:35The 2017 film Molly's Game tells the true story of Molly Bloom, who ran high-stakes
21:40poker games for Hollywood celebrities.
21:42In the film, Michael Cera plays an antagonist who goes by Player X.
21:46He makes it his mission to destroy Bloom's reputation and livelihood while also being
21:50as awful as possible to his fellow players at every turn.
21:53Though the character's true identity remains unnamed in the movie, Bloom names him outright
21:58as Tobey Maguire in her autobiography.
22:01Jennifer Lopez
22:02Jennifer Lopez has drawn acclaim for both her music and her acting, as well as for having
22:05led a successful career as a producer.
22:07Despite her legions of diehard fans, Lopez's reputation is far less sterling when it comes
22:12to those who have to work with her, not just enjoy her output from a distance.
22:16She has frequently been described as difficult or outright impossible to work with professionally.
22:21Lopez has shown a tendency to lash out at and insult other celebrities when giving interviews.
22:26One of the celebrities that Lopez was most harsh towards was Cameron Diaz, in her now-infamous
22:31interview with Movieline.
22:32When the two were cast alongside each other in What to Expect When You're Expecting, there
22:36was obviously a lot of animosity on set.
22:39This was far from being an isolated incident, as there are countless stories of her making
22:43life harder for co-stars and crew members, and even members of the general public, such
22:47as a hotel maid who she reportedly had fired for asking for an autograph.
22:52Lopez has since denied that claim.
22:54Laura Flynn Boyle's big breakout role was on the one-of-a-kind television phenomenon
22:57Twin Peaks.
22:59She played Donna Haywood, the best friend of murder victim Laura Palmer.
23:03Boyle starred in both of the show's two seasons before it was prematurely canceled by ABC.
23:07When the prequel movie Twin Peaks' Fire Walk With Me was released just one year after the
23:11cancellation, Boyle was no longer involved, although her character still was.
23:16The recasting of Donna Haywood with Moira Kelly raised fans' suspicions that behind-the-scenes
23:20issues had led to Boyle's removal from Twin Peaks, especially considering the fact that
23:25she was the only cast member replaced.
23:27When the 2017 revival of the series Twin Peaks Return finally came to fruition many years
23:32later, Boyle publicly voiced her desire to return to the series.
23:35Instead, creator David Lynch purposefully excluded her, despite pretty much everyone
23:40else returning.
23:41Her behind-the-scenes romances were considered by some to be a hindrance to the series.
23:45According to an AV Club interview with Sherrilyn Fenn, she allegedly put a stop to the planned
23:49romance between the Dale Cooper and Audrey Horne characters because she was dating actor
23:53Kyle MacLachlan in real life.
23:56Boyle had a few other major roles outside of Twin Peaks, but as word spread of her being
24:00difficult to work with, her good roles dried up.
24:03These days, her acting gigs are few and far apart, and frequently take the form of trashy
24:07B-movies like Hansel and Gretel Get Baked.
24:10Katie Affleck is the younger brother of fellow actor Ben Affleck.
24:14The brothers have worked together many times over the years, but Katie Affleck's career
24:18took a bit longer to reach the heights of his brother's.
24:20Still, many film critics considered him to be the superior actor of the two, and the
24:24one who has consistently chosen more interesting projects.
24:27His performances in movies like The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford and
24:32Manchester by the Sea both drew widespread acclaim, and the latter even earned him his
24:36first Oscar win.
24:37I'm sorry, Lee.
24:38He passed away about an hour ago."
24:40As reported by the Daily Beast, Affleck was accused of sexual harassment by multiple women,
24:45including the cinematographer and the producer of 2010's I'm Still Here.
24:49The accusations led to a pair of lawsuits that Affleck settled out of court.
24:53On the same shoot, Affleck partially admitted to creating an unsafe work environment and
24:57that he was rarely sober throughout the production.
25:00According to The Guardian, he encouraged his cast and crew to party with him as part of
25:03the mockumentary experience.
25:06Sean Penn is a five-time nominee and two-time Oscar winner with many acclaimed performances,
25:10and even a few films as a director under his belt.
25:13Over the years, he has developed something of a negative reputation, a fact that Penn
25:17has knowingly embraced.
25:18In his Oscar acceptance speech for his performance in 2008's Milk, Penn said,
25:23"...I do know how hard they make it to appreciate me."
25:26Penn has also made it clear on other occasions that he knows he can be difficult to work
25:29with and even to simply interact with on a personal level.
25:32He has been involved in many altercations and blowups with the directors of his movies
25:36and does not hesitate at all to voice his opposition to their creative decisions.
25:40All of this without even getting into his tangled history of domestic abuse allegations
25:44and violent altercations in the U.S. and abroad.
25:47And while some of them have been disputed by all parties involved, the details remain
25:51murky.
25:52Morgan Freeman once held a reputation as a kind-hearted man, an upstanding member of
25:56society, and a role model for all.
25:59Not many actors can claim to be typecast as God and as the go-to default for narration
26:04with one of the most distinctive voices in Hollywood.
26:06But after a long and storied career with a gentle and beloved reputation, Freeman was
26:11outed as a prolific predator.
26:13According to CNN, the actor was accused by at least eight women of sexual harassment
26:17and groping on film sets.
26:18Though the news became public during the hashtag MeToo movement that began in 2017, his pattern
26:23of inappropriate behavior was well known by those in the industry for years beforehand.
26:28A crew member on 2013's Now You See Me revealed that the woman on the shoot all knew to expect
26:33unwelcome sexual remarks and touching whenever he was on set.
26:37They even collectively decided to wear more conservative clothing in the hopes of combating
26:41his advances.
26:42Freeman is also known to make film shoots trying ordeals for the directors he works
26:46with, even in some of his most acclaimed roles.
26:48When shooting The Shawshank Redemption, Freeman allegedly refused to do additional takes or
26:53follow the script.
26:54He also forced the big final moments of the film to be scrapped and changed because he
26:57considered them, as he stated in an interview with the New York Daily News,
27:01"...sort of asinine, sort of clichéd, sort of unnecessary."
27:06Over the years, several of William Shatner's former castmates have commented on the Star
27:11Trek star's allegedly difficult attitude.
27:14He's reportedly upset plenty of co-stars and even caused some feuds along the way.
27:18Shatner and fellow Trek vet Leonard Nimoy clashed over scripts and fan mail, and Shatner
27:23is said to be excessively sensitive to stories that favored Nimoy.
27:27Later in life, the pair patched up their differences, but that belated reconciliation may be a rare
27:32exception for Shatner.
27:34Reportedly, Shatner and Nichelle Nichols, with whom he shared TV's first interracial
27:39kiss, did not get along well at all, and she nearly left the show until Dr. Martin Luther
27:44King convinced Nichols of the importance of her role.
27:48Shatner later made waves when he refused to appear on stage with James Doohan at a convention
27:53in 2004, Doohan's farewell appearance following his Alzheimer's diagnosis.
27:58There's also the long-running feud between George Takei and Shatner, who've been at odds,
28:04often publicly, for several decades.
28:06There's such a sickness there.
28:08It's so painfully obvious that there is a psychosis there.
28:14Well, I think his stability is quite questionable.
28:19Really?
28:20Shannon Doherty reportedly was notoriously hard to get along with on the sets of both
28:25Beverly Hills 90210 and Charmed.
28:28During her 90210 years, Doherty clashed with her co-stars, including Tori Spelling, who
28:33recounted an incident when Doherty and Jenny Garth nearly got into a fistfight.
28:37Spelling has admitted that she ultimately asked her father, 90210 producer Aaron Spelling,
28:43to fire Doherty.
28:44Years after the show ended, Jason Priestley wrote candidly about Doherty's attitude in
28:48his memoir, and Doherty responded by saying he had brain damage from a car accident.
28:54On the set of Charmed, Doherty ran into problems again, this time with co-star Alyssa Milano,
28:59who described the situation as,
29:01"...very much sort of like high school."
29:03Doherty agreed.
29:04There was too much drama on the set, and not enough passion for the work.
29:09Whatever caused the issues, they proved to be too much for Doherty or producer Aaron
29:13Spelling to handle, and she left the series after the third season.
29:17Despite being a household name, Wesley Snipes has developed a bad reputation in Hollywood
29:22for his on-set antics, most notoriously during the production of 2004's Blade Trinity.
29:28According to co-star Patton Oswalt, Snipes insisted on being called Blade and would rarely
29:34leave his trailer.
29:35"...he'd walk by his trailer and this wall of pot stench would just be like, whoa, and
29:41kind of push you to the side."
29:43Oswalt also recounted a much more serious incident in which Snipes tried to strangle
29:48the director, David Goyer, after which Goyer proposed that Snipes quit, and his stand-in
29:53finished the film.
29:54This allegedly freaked Snipes out so much that he stopped talking to Goyer altogether.
29:59"...after a while he resorted to, he would communicate with post-its that he would give
30:04to the director, and each one he would sign Blade."
30:08After filming for Blade Trinity ended, Snipes sued Goyer and New Line Cinema, claiming they
30:13withheld part of his salary and didn't allow him to be part of the creative process.
30:18He was also allegedly upset because some of his screen time had been reduced in favor
30:22of Jessica Biel and Ryan Reynolds.
30:24The suit was later settled out of court.
30:27After racking up a string of early hits as a Disney starlet, Lindsay Lohan set about
30:31compiling a record of partying hard and leaving frustrated directors and co-stars in her wake.
30:36On the set of 2007's Georgia Rule, Lohan caused so many problems with her tardiness and no-shows
30:42— reportedly costing the production half a million dollars a day — that producer
30:46James Robinson sent her an ultimatum, saying, quote, "...I'm not going to put up with it."
30:51In 2012, a source from the set of Glee complained that the actress had been a total nightmare,
30:57again showing up several hours late to shoot.
30:59It seems that tardiness is a bad habit of Lohan's.
31:02A year later, Anger Management co-star Charlie Sheen told Jay Leno that Lohan had been late
31:07to the set by several hours, and had later borrowed a couple of bracelets from the production,
31:13which the show later deducted from her paycheck.
31:15The same year, New York Times Magazine published Here Is What Happens When You Cast Lindsay
31:20Lohan in Your Movie, a piece chronicling some of Lohan's most unbelievable misadventures
31:26on the set of Paul Schrader's The Canyons.
31:29Among her offenses?
31:30Not showing up to set.
31:31Big surprise.
31:32Though he's apparently become more easygoing in recent years, it's been a hard battle to
31:37repair the damage Ed Norton caused to his reputation in the past.
31:40That reputation?
31:41A supposedly impossible perfectionist who siphons creative control for himself.
31:47While Norton is infamous for insisting the producers give him say over the final cut
31:51of the 1998 drama American History X, he surged back into the headlines while promoting 2008's
31:58The Incredible Hulk.
32:00The Marvel Cinematic Universe is generally action-packed, explosive, and witty.
32:04But when Edward Norton signed on to play Bruce Banner, he wanted a longer, more nuanced film
32:09with a deeper dive into Banner's backstory.
32:12Universal put its foot down, and the creative differences spiraled out of control.
32:17Norton barely even promoted the film, and took off for a humanitarian trip to Africa
32:21after the premiere, arguably harming the flick's box office bottom line.
32:26So in other words, you wouldn't like Norton when he's angry.
