00:00It was Halloween in February at the 2025 Critics' Choice Awards. From the winner of the award
00:06for most leather ever worn to the actress who channeled a bird, here are the worst dressed
00:11of the night.
00:13Katherine Hahn looked like quite the elegant crow at the Critics' Choice Awards. While
00:17Hahn herself looked stunning as usual, with natural-looking hair and makeup, this styling
00:22clashed with the over-the-top gown. The dress was a statement piece for sure, but the feathery
00:26silhouette was just way too bird-like. The resemblance was even more clear when she started
00:31hunting around for shiny coins on the carpet. Just kidding about that part, of course. You're
00:36still our favorite Marvel witch, Agatha.
00:39Hahn and Ariana Grande must have collaborated beforehand, because there's no other reason
00:44we can think of for Grande to show up as a scarecrow. Look, we love Ariana Grande's commitment
00:50to Wicked and Glinda. In all the events and red carpets she's attended while promoting
00:54the movie, it's clear that Grande has taken fashion inspiration from many different Wicked
00:59details, but this one went a little too far down the yellow brick road. We're assuming
01:04that this Dior dress is supposed to be scarecrow-inspired, but it's not entirely clear. Mostly, it looks
01:10like Grande is dressed up as a big, walking straw hat.
01:13I was trying to be nice.
01:15You're so nice and good.
01:16Joey King's Miu Miu dress wasn't the worst of the worst at this year's Critics' Choice
01:20Awards, but it wasn't great either. The muted color palette didn't work as well with King's
01:25coloring as a bolder, deeper hue might have. But mainly, this dress had so many different
01:30elements and details that our focus was simultaneously drawn everywhere and nowhere. The lace and
01:36corset detailing, along with the fabrics and colors, made the whole thing look like a piece
01:40of 1800s underwear.
01:43We try to think positively, but it's hard to find anything positive about Melissa Rauch's
01:48purple ensemble. This deep purple hue isn't easy to pull off, and it actually looks lovely
01:53with Rauch's coloring. The problem is the silhouette. The excess fabric overwhelmed
01:58her, and the odd length threw off her proportions. She beamed the whole night and looked honestly
02:03happy to be there, so it's hard to fault this too much. You'll get him next time, Melissa.
02:08A fun twist on a suit is welcome at all award shows, and a distinct print is a fabulous
02:13way to achieve that. Unfortunately, Bowen Yang's printed suit of choice on the red carpet
02:18was a fashion fail. The print on its own looked like it'd be more at home on a sofa in a college
02:23dorm. Beyond that, the suit itself was off with a double-breasted jacket and long baggy
02:28pants. Add in a shirt that totally washed Yang out, and you've got an outfit that just
02:33doesn't work.
02:35Lupita Nyong'o can pull off anything, but she doesn't usually test that theory. She's
02:39known for her usually immaculate red carpet fashion choices, so we were surprised to see
02:44the star hit the Critics' Choice Awards red carpet in an utterly perplexing gown. Nyong'o's
02:49ensemble looked like she took her favorite bathing suit cover-up, draped black tulle
02:54all over it, and called it a day. Clashing vibes paired with the dropped waist and odd
02:58neckline made this look a flop.
03:01It was hard to ignore just how much Jordan Furstman's pinstripe suit looked exactly like
03:05Gomez Adams' iconic ensemble. All he needed was a pencil mustache for everyone to say,
03:11"...It's an Addams!"
03:13With the baggy long pants and dark sunglasses, his look certainly had a costumey feel, and
03:18it's clear that Furstman was going for something unique. But it just left us scratching our
03:22heads.
03:23Who ordered the Bertolli?
03:26Fashion inspiration can come from the most unlikely sources, and for Hannah Einbinder,
03:30it appears to have been the bottle of extra virgin olive oil sitting on her kitchen counter.
03:35It's clear that Einbinder was going for a unique look, and we love a fashion risk almost
03:40as much as we love this color on the hack star. Still, the odd shape was just a bit
03:44too over-the-top for the occasion.
03:46Demi Moore hit the Critics' Choice Awards red carpet with a Best Actress nod in tow.
03:51Unfortunately, no one told her that just because she was nominated for a horror movie, that
03:56didn't mean she needed to wear a dress that looked like something out of a horror movie.
04:04The Substance Star's navy gown was nothing if not unique, with a strange neckline, extreme
04:08body-hugging silhouette, and skirt that appeared to have had an unfortunate run-in with an
04:13X-Acto knife. Moore's hair and makeup were on point, but they just couldn't counteract
04:17the dress design.
04:19On this particular red carpet, there was lots of experimenting with suits in various surprising
04:23colors and styles, and most of these suit-related risks actually paid off. So, this made it
04:29all the more boring when David Alan Grier wore this outfit for some reason. This jacket
04:33had an odd pattern and an odd length. Mostly, though, layering this with a white t-shirt
04:38just made it too casual for this occasion. It would have been much better for a more
04:42laid-back event.
04:44The good news is, Michelle Yeoh's multi-shade blue gown definitely reminded us of something.
04:49The bad news is, that something is a laundry basket. In Yeoh's defense, the bold blue hue
04:54is perfect for her, but the wrinkly layers of fabric just look messy, rather than like
04:58a deliberate detail. We'd love to see her sport something in this color palette in the
05:02future that's a bit sleeker.
05:05Juxtaposing different styles can be a great way to bring a fresh twist to an ensemble.
05:10Katrina Balfe did just that with her red carpet outfit. Unfortunately, this one just looked
05:15disjointed, rather than fun and funky.
05:17What does this look?
05:18Prada number, you know? See, I wouldn't have guessed Prada.
05:22With the simple satin elements with added leather and metal, it looked like she cut
05:26up a wedding dress and added some edgy elements. Talk about confusing.
05:31If there was an award for the Critics' Choice Awards attendee who was wearing the most leather,
05:35Kaley Reese would have been a shoo-in. Between the long sleeves, high neck, shoulder pads,
05:40and big mermaid train, we can't really imagine any scenario where she could have used more
05:45leather. Maybe a hat? Little leather fingernail tassels? Okay, it could be done, but should
05:50it?
