It's scorching hot this summer; but it wasn't so long ago when Dubai was far cooler - and wetter.

00:00This is Dubai, but not as we know it, at least not at this time of the year.
00:13As people braved the scorching heat this summer, last year's freak thunderstorms now seem like
00:18a distant memory.
00:20But just cast your mind back a little and reminisce over the heavy rains that lashed
00:24the Emirates in November.
00:26There were some who enjoyed it, but the downpours caused havoc for most people on the city's
00:31already congested roads.
00:33Traffic ground to a standstill as driving conditions deteriorated.
00:38Dubai police said there were up to 500 accidents due to the incessant rainfall, and at least
00:43two people were reported to have died.
00:45Some car owners said the Emirates needed to be better prepared to deal with emergencies
00:50like this.
00:51Most residents haven't seen anything like it.
00:54It might have caused chaos, but many are looking back fondly on those rainy days during
00:59the hot summer months.
